Summary: The fall of King Saul could happen to us all.
INTRO: AMALEK & AMALEKITES
The Amalekites were an ancient wandering tribe descended from Esau’s grandson Amalek
I. DIVINE COMMISSION!
He was given a once in a lifetime commission by God!
A. To bring Judgment upon the enemy of Israel...
B. To Protect the Purity of Israel...
C. They were sinners and defiled...God’s judgment is swift and RIGHT! We don’t always understand the ways of God but know that everything He does especially in judgement is RIGHT!
WE are commissioned to judge in our lives what is:
-THE ENEMY OF GOD…..SIN, HABITS AND IDEAS….
We are commissioned to maintain purity in our lives!
TO ABSTAIN FROM THINGS THAT DEFILE US IN THE EYES OF GOD!
-TEENAGER that means…
To keep yourself pure from using:
-SUBSTANCES….TOBACCO, DRUGS, ALCOHOL,
-SENSUALITY, DANCING (PROVOCATIVE), COZYING UP WITH A BOY IN THE BACKSEAT BECAUSE HE "LOVES YOU"!!!!!
-SELFISHNESS, PLEASING YOURSELF WHILE NEGLECTING
OTHERS...(YOU HAVE A MINISTRY)
WHY IS IT WRONG TO DO THESE THINGS?
NOT because I say so...
NOT because Mom and Dad say so...
NOT because others burden you with their convictions
-But because it is against the very NATURE OF GOD... DEFILE TEMPLE…
It’s wrong to kill because God is Life and the giver of life...
it’s wrong to lie because God is Truth...
" " steal because God is Providential...etc.
-PARENTS…ADULTS that means be an example in word and deed... (Not just do as I say…)
II. DIRECT COMMAND!
It was a simple command…..
A. To utterly destroy the Amalekites…..
B. To destroy the possessions of the Amalekites….
THINK ABOUT SOMETHING….
God handed them to him on a silver platter….(Verse 3)
There are some here today struggling with sin and you’re too busy making excuses….
God has a PROMISE for you that if you’ll CONFESS (to agree with God)
And REPENT (turn away…turn away….turn away….) you will find VICTORY in JESUS!
Question is...What is your Priority? How much do you want to go on with God and experience the power of God?
Saul showed his
III. DISOBEDIENT CHARACTER!
A. He placed his opinion above God’s Purpose…..
Our opinion is not better than God’s purpose!!!!! (Preach it Brother....!)
B. Lied to Samuel (Verse 13)
C. Made Excuses for his shortcoming…..blamed the people (Verse 15)
D. His Religious activity replaced his Obedience to God….
God is not impressed with your church attendance….
God is not impressed with your singing, or religious activities….
God is IMPRESSED with your obedience!
Because God blesses your work…doesn’t mean you are in absolute obedience…
IV. DISASTROUS CONSEQUENCES!
A. Lost his Kingdom…
B. Lost his friendship with Samuel…
C. Lost his hearing from the Lord….
D. Lost his life to an Amalekite….(II Samuel 1)
“Be sure your sins will find you out…”
