The Devil’s Preacher

Rev. 13:11-18

From chapter 12 through 13 we see another trinity that the Bible clearly speaks of. This triune entity has a motive to stand against all that is of God.

In Chapter 12 we see the dragon and in chapter 6 and this chapter and we learn of the antichrist, but now we see another beast.

There are several things I would like to express here about this beast:

1. His Person

See: Vs.11-12

We are told that this beast came up out of the earth which simply means from the populace of people.

Two Horns: speaks concerning the power he possesses

“And he spake as a dragon”

His message is that of Satan himself!

Mention: Matt. 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders…

See: 2 Cor. 11:14-15 Here we are told that Satan has ministers

Vs.12 He exercises all the power of the first beast before him…

This is because this other beast is also empowered by Satan as the first beast is.

This second we are told “Causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast”

The word worship suggests that he will be a religious leader that will establish a one world religion.

This second beast is better known as the false prophet the third person in the satanic trinity.

This second beast acts as the Holy Spirit in this satanic trinity in that he causeth the world to worship the first beast.

See: John 16:13-15 here Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit tells us that He the Holy Spirit does not speak of Himself but of Jesus and this is what the false prophet does for the antichrist.

2. His Power

See: Rev. 13:13-15

Several things:

• He calls fire from heaven on the earth

• He makes an image and give life to it

See: Matt. 24:24 Jesus says that there will be those who come will shew great signs and wonders

We I hope recognize that God is able to do all things, but often do not recognize that Satan can also within certain limitations can perform miracles.

Listen I often say every word in a verse is worth attention and these verses show that because the key word here is “deceiveth”

See: 2 Thessa. 2:9 Here we are told these are lying wonders

We are seeing this even today in religion where there are those who are using lying wonders gather the masses of people together.

We find in multiple places here after where the beast is mentioned in conjunction with his image

Rev. 14:9, 11, 15:2, 16:2, 19:20 and 20:4 all mentions the beast and his image

3. His Program

See: Vs.16-18 He causeth everyone who wonders after the first beast to receive a mark in their right hand or forehead.

We are told this mark will be ”in” these location as hidden and needed to be scanned perhaps. The idea here is perhaps a paperless global electronic system.

Mention: Rev. 7:2-3 God seals his servants

Rev. 13:17 This is the only way they will be able to buy or sell. They must have the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

In essence here by receiving the mark they are seal by the Devil as his servants.

Mention: Rev. 14:11 Everyone that receives the mark will be eternally separated from God in torment.

Vs.18 Tells us his number is 666 which has causes many to make application to this.

The best answer is as the verse tells us is the number of man. Man was created on the sixth day and probably because we are speaking concerning the satanic trinity each of them is represented by the number six.

This whole passage causes me to reflect upon what Satan said unto Jesus while tempting Him in the wilderness. He shewed Him the kingdoms of the world and offered it to Him if He would just bow unto him. Ref. Matt. 4:8-9

Today the devil has something to offer those who are interested but it may cost you in eternity.
