The Cure That Kills

A British Anglican cleric working in Baghdad said a man he met in Jordan issued a disturbing threat that is now feared to be a dire portent in the aftermath of failed British bombing attacks.

"Those who cure you will kill you," the man told Canon Andrew White, who spoke to CNN on Wednesday.

We live in a sick world. The people are sick. The government is sick. Neighborhoods are sick, schools are sick, and families are sick.

We need a cure. For some, the cure has come, not from less of the world but more of it.

Some have turned to the cure of addictive drugs both legal and illegal

Some have turned to the cure of a little wine (a little every hour on the hour)

Some have turned to the cure of more work and more money

Some have turned to the cure of internet porn

Some have turned to the cure of the NBA, NCAA, PGA, MLB, & NFL

Some have turned to the cure of alternative lifestyles

Some are like Solomon; theyve tried everything under the sun

We do need a cure!

If a cure is needed, if a prescription is to be filled, the illness must first be identified.

James 1:14-16

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death .

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

The illness is sin and the cure will not come in a bottle, pipe, bank account, sexual relationship, entertainment, etc.

The cure will come from

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Moses, Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
