"The Cock Crew..." By Dr. Winson Butler (Drbutler2@bellsouth.net)

Summary: Remember, it’s not what you have, it’s what you do with what you have that makes all the difference. The little rooster’s voice was all it took to convict Peter. Let’s examine it together!
Introduction
With Easter only a few weeks away, it helps to remind ourselves of all that Jesus did and gave for us that we might have and enjoy eternal life.
There’s is something though I think we often overlook and it’s usually the "Little Things" that happen behind the scenes that can make...even shed more light on the "somethings" we miss.
e.g. Prior to Peter’s denial of Jesus, while having his feet washed by the Savior, Christ said in Jn. 13:21 "One of you will betray me.."
*Peter’s Reaction: "I will lay my life down for thy sake..." 13:37 kjv
*Jesus’s Response: "The cock shall not crow till thou hast denied me thrice..." 13:38 kjv
Now here’s my point, Jesus was indicating to Peter, it will not take something as significant as a thunderstorm to let him know when he has failed..but something as small as a roosters crow to reveal to him his lost opportunity!
In John’s record of Peter’s denial of Jesus, he is asked "Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples..." 18:17a & his answer each time was "I am not..." 18:17b
On the third time he denied he was affilliated with Jesus it happened, 18:27 "the cock crew..." and it was then and ONLY then Peter heard the little roosters voice!
What we often overlooked though, is, there were others there, but, they didn’t hear nor heed the rooster’s crow like Peter did. Why? They chose not to! Let’s examine who they were:
Main Division
I. The Crowd Nearby (17-18)
II. The Crown Inside (19, 22)
Conclusion: Will you hear Him today?
