Sermons

Summary: This is the fourth in a series of seven messages I preached at Wednesday night Prayer meeting on Spiritual Growth and Fitness.

Spiritual Growth and Fitness

Church Attendance

Hebrews 10:25

Testimonies from last week’s exercise -- Meditation

There are three essential things for a person to grow up healthy. (We want to be healthy, don’t we?)

Food

Exercise

Rest

These must be kept in balance.

1. Vitamin – Church Attendance.

A. If all the people who said they were Christians would be in the house of God on Sunday, our churches would be filled to the max.

-Offerings would be no problem.

-Missions would have a greater impact.

-There would be more workers than we would know

what to do with.

-The church would be more exciting.

-It would be easier for new believers to grow.

-Countless souls would be saved.

B.Why go to church? Psalm 32:19

1.Worship. Psalm 29:2

2.Fellowship. Acts 2:42-47

3.Bible Study. Acts 2:42

4.Service

Psalms 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

5.Encouragement.

--We need each other

--It encourages me just to see you in your place on Sunday morning.

--Not just to be encouraged, but to encourage

everyone else.

6. God demands it. Hebrews 10:25

2. Exercise – Make a commitment not to allow

ANYTHING to keep you out of church.

-When you put something else before God on Sunday

morning, you have slipped into idol worship.

-Don’t allow anything to keep you out of God’s

house. (“thou shalt have no other gods before me”)

-It dishonors the Lord

-It’s a bad testimony of your faith.

3.Rest. Psalm 46:10-11
