THE CALL TO DISCIPLESHIP:

Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Life is about your destination, but let us get real: LIFE IS ABOUT THE JOURNEY… LIFE IS A PROCESS. Life is about passion, love, zeal and a commitment. ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE.

JESUS CALLS 4 FISHERMEN AND A TAX COLLECTOR, A DOCTOR INTO A RADICAL OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THE WORLD, TO TURN THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN… THIS REQUIRES A PERSONAL, DAILY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SON OF GOD…

Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

DISCIPLESHIP IS NOT:

1. A SUPER SAINT, JUST ORDINARY DAILY PERSONAL

2. NOT A BOLT OF LIGHTNING

3. UP AND DOWN

4. CIRCUS, SHOWOFF

Disciple: one that tries his best to please, a personal follower of Jesus, a follower, a student, a teacher, leader, philosopher, a dedicated follower of Jesus,

One who has been baptized, one that strives to keep the teaching and commandments. Part of a body.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

SEVERAL PARTS TO BE A DISCIPLE:

1. TO GO, GO-D, GO-SPEL… Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

2. TO LOVE GOD, LOVE HIS WORD AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

3. BELIEVES, PRACTICES TEACHES TO DENY SELF, FLESH. TAKE UP THE CROSS. Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

4. BE A STUDENT OF THE WORD… ACCEPT THE CALL… John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

5. FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHERS… TO BE A WITNESS…(AS IN COURT) CALL TO REPENTANCE. Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

6. TO BE FAITHFUL, STEADFAST 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

7. TO WALK AND LIVE BY FAITH. Many say they would die for the cross, but seems they can’t live daily for the cross.

8. WALKING BY THE SPIRIT. MAKE A CLEAR DECISION.

9. TO BE A FORGIVER, RECONCILIATION --- HEALING. Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

10. RESTING IN GOD’S GRACE.

11. LIVING IN THE LIGHT. (DIVINE FAVOR)

12. ONE THAT HELPS SPREAD THE GOSPEL, SHARES THE GOOD NEWS.

13. FAITHFUL, FIRM, COMMITTED.

14. GIVER, INVEST IN MISSIONS.

15. TEACH… TEACH THEM, TO TEACH IS TO LEARN TWICE.

16. CHANGE THE WORLD ONE DAY, ONE PERSON AT A TIME. FISHERS OF MEN. WIDER OUTREACH.

17. RECOGNIZE YOU HAVE A DUTY, A RESPONSIBILITY, A CALL.

CONCLUSION: WILL YOU HEAR THE MACEDONIAN CALL… COME HELP? REACH, TEACH AND GROW?
