Contributed by Wade Martin Hughes, Sr on Dec 11, 2014 (message contributor)
Summary: Today many feel rejected. Sometimes this feeling is real, sometimes it is more emotional. The bruise of rejection scars as hurt people tend to hurt people.
THE BRUISE OF REJECTION... THE STING OF REJECTION...
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
BRUISE:
Injury, a discoloration of skin, damage to fruit, damage, do wrong
HURT MENTALLY OR EMOTIONALLY, HURT, harm,
REJECTION:
To put aside, to send back, REFUSE TO ACCEPT, vomit, decline, throw away.
I. REJECTION IS ALMOST ALWAYS TAKEN PERSONALLY...
SAMUEL SAW THE PEOPLE'S DESIRE FOR A KING AS A PERSONAL REJECTION...
1 Samuel 8:7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say
unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
1 Samuel 10:19 And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities
and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present
yourselves before the Lord by your tribes, and by your thousands.
II. IS OUR LOVE INCLUSIVE OR EXCLUSIVE?
DISSIMULATED LOVE... To conceal or disguise, one's thoughts, feelings, to
Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
[10] Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
DISSIMILAR: unlike, not similar, different
CLIQUE: small exclusive groups of people...
DON'T ALLOW YOUR LOVE TO BECOME DIVIDED...
DISSIMULATED LOVE MEANS:
1. You must buy my love...
2. You must earn my approval
3. You will have to conceal facts and intentions
4. Inadequate, insincere
III. JESUS KNEW THE DEEP BRUISE OF REJECTION AND JESUS WARNED US TO EXPECT TO
BE REJECTED...
Mark 8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the
elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests
and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as
it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
[4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God,
and afflicted.
IV. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE CARRY THE DEEP BRUISE OF RREJECTION...
REJECTION CAN CAUSE US TO LOOSE HEART...

D. Rejection gives birth to SELF-CENTERNESS
1. Loneliness
2. FEAR
3. JEALOUSY

VI. CAN WE GET OUT OF REJECTION'S DEATH GRIP? SURE YOU CAN!
A. LEARN TO FORGIVE AND ACCEPT FORGIVENSS...
Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
[37] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and
ye shall be forgiven:
[38] Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and
running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall
be measured to you again.
B. SET YOURSELF FREE, SET OTHERS FREE...
Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends:
also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
C. BE QUICK TO ACCEPT OTHERS EVEN IF THEY ARE DIFFERENT...
