Explores how true happiness comes from God's blessings of faith, love, and hope, and encourages us to become channels of blessings to others.
Good morning, beloved family of God. It is a joy to gather with you today, in this sacred space where our hearts and souls meet, to delve into the rich tapestry of God's Word. Today, we are going to look at the blessings that God bestows upon us, how we can become a blessing to others, and the bountiful blessings that we receive through faith.
Let us turn our hearts and minds to the words of John Calvin, who once said, "However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts." Today, we will discover that our true enjoyment, our true happiness, comes not from worldly possessions or status, but from the blessings of faith, love, and hope that God has generously poured into our lives.
Our faith journey begins with an understanding of the blessings that God has promised us. This understanding is not just an intellectual one, but a deep, heartfelt conviction that God is good, and His plans for us are good. This conviction is what drives us to trust in Him, even when circumstances seem to suggest otherwise.
The life of Abraham: God promised him that he would be the father of many nations, even though he was old and childless. Yet, Abraham believed God. He trusted in God's promise, and it was credited to him as righteousness. This is the kind of faith that we are called to have - a faith that believes in God's blessings, even when they seem impossible.
The belief in God's providence: Providence is the belief that God is actively involved in our lives, guiding and directing our paths. This belief is not based on what we can see or understand, but on the assurance that God is in control, even when we can't see His hand at work. When God called Abraham to leave his homeland and go to a place he did not know, Abraham obeyed. He did not know where he was going, but he trusted in God's providence. He believed that God would guide him and provide for him. This is the kind of faith that we are called to have - a faith that trusts in God's providence, even when we can't see the way forward.
The belief in God's promises: God's promises are not like human promises. They are not based on our ability to fulfill them, but on God's ability. When God makes a promise, He has the power and the will to fulfill it.
The belief in God's power: God's power is not like human power. It is not limited or constrained by our understanding. God's power is infinite and unstoppable. When God decides to do something, nothing can stand in His way.
The belief in God's love: God's love is not like human love. It is not conditional or fickle. God's love is steadfast and unchanging. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. When God called him, Abraham was not a perfect man. He had his flaws and weaknesses. Yet, God loved him and chose him. This is the kind of faith that we are called to have - a faith that believes in God's love, even when we feel unworthy.
