That's Not Fair! Series

Summary: - This Parable is the answer of the Lord to Peter’s question in Matthew 19:27. - The parable is emphasizing a right attitude in service.
WHAT DOES THIS PARABLE TEACH US ABOUT GOD?

1. God is a generous God.
- It was the landowner’s money and he could do with it as it pleased him.
- Matthew 20:15 Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?’
2. God’s blessings are not based on merit system.
- We cannot earn what God gives us.
- What God gives is not pay but a gift; not a reward but grace.
- If a person wants to be justified, it will have to be "as a gift by His grace" you cannot earn it (Romans 3:19-28).
3. We are all equally precious in God’s sight.
- The Jews knew they were God's chosen people and often looked down on the Gentiles.
- We must understand that no group of people will get special privileges and no one is inferior to the other. This is what Jesus meant when He told this parable.
- So, what’s the point? Salvation is available to all people.
LIFE APPLICATIONS:
1. Be thankful for everything.
- Many times we forget that grace is undeserved and we start to think that God owes us something.
2. Do everything without complaining.
- Christians take the grace of God for granted, and often complain about God’s blessings.
- We must rememebr that no part of salvation was fair to Christ, and all is undeserved by us!
3. Stop comparing yourself to others.
- How would you feel if you had worked all day and receive the same as they guy who worked for just 1 hour?
- The latecomers made in one hour what the early comers made in one day. That’s not fair!
- Someone said that there is something that is toxic to the soul, it’s called COMPARISION.
4. Don’t begrudge God’s generosity
- We should never begrudge the grace God bestows on others.
- We need to learn how not to be jealous of another persons blessing and be happy for them.
- Most of us hear the phrase "its not fair!" too many times to count. Sometimes we Christians are the ones who are saying it.
Conclusion:
Jesus called His twelve disciples and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." (Mark 9:35)
