TAKING A STAND

Ephesians 6:10-13

INTRODUCTION

A. Satan has many schemes for capturing the souls of the unsuspecting, but clothed in the armor of God, we can stand against him.

B. There can be no neutrality (Matt 12:30).

B. In taking our stand, there are things we must stand against, but there are things for which we must stand.

I. THINGS WE MUST STAND AGAINST

A. Stand against discouragement:

1. Noah built and preached and built for 120 years. Only eight souls were saved (1 Pet 3:20).

2. When we pour our heart and soul into our work and have little to show for it, remember Noah, but also remember that our labor is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).

B. Stand against temptation (Gal 6:1; Eph 6:14-18)

C. Stand firm against false teaching (1 John 4:1; Jude 1:3).

II. THINGS FOR WHICH WE MUST STAND

A. We must stand for truth, for truth holds our armor together (Eph 6:13-14; Phil 4:8).

B. We must stand for the majors instead of the minors (Matt 23:23; Micah 6:8).

C. We must stand for agape love (1 Cor 13:4-7).

CONCLUSION

A. Having done all, stand firm (Eph 6:13)

B. Stand up for Jesus:

Stand up, stand up for Jesus

ye soldiers of the cross;

lift high his royal banner,

it must not suffer loss.

From vict'ry unto vict'ry

his army he shall lead
