TID BITS ON SOUL WINNING
UNDERSTANDING GOD’S SALVATION
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Only God knows how many deal souls have been led to the Lord by these verses.
These verses are commonly known as the Romans Road. Used by Christians all over the world. The Romans road is wonderful but there is a problem.
Because of the habitual use of such quick & easy portions of scripture. More & more Christians are developing a very shallow concept of the New Testament Salvation.
Two-thing wrong here:
1)we become mechanical and not real. We go thru the motions but our heart is not in it.
2)Too many people do not understand after we led them to Christ. Time after time I find people who profess to be saved. Yet they are not sure about their eternal destiny. Folks they need to know for sure. We fail if we do not help them understand for sure.
No doubts in their minds.
Times change, methods change, the tools of ministry change. The rest assure the Gospel never changes nor will it.
The Gospel is not weak, sick or inadequate.
There is shortage of power from the Holy Spirit to convict the hearts of sinners. Then why aren’t more people being saved? Simple, we have changed. We want them to come to us. (We are told to go to them) We need to make hast in a hurry when we do go. As great & powerful as preaching is. It lacks exposure to sinners. We are at fault here.
We must reap the Harvest. Then we can bring it into the storehouse (church). Sinners need the Gospel the way Jesus, Paul & the disciples preached it. In public places.
“THE GOSPEL + EXPOSURE TO SINNERS = RESULTS
TOOLS NEEDED:
a.Power of the Holy Spirit
b.Prayer time everyday asking God for power
c.Clean living (the Bible keeps you from sin)
d.A New Testament Bible (marked)
e.Prospect slips (assignments from Pastor)
f. Tracts (preferably with a clear salvation plan, name of church, address, phone number, times of service.)
g.Church literature (special events, buses, etc)
h.A map
i.Flashlight if going out at night
j.Small notebook something to write names or notes on)
k.Breath sweetener
l.A partner (silent partner)
TWO BY TWO
Mark 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
We are told to go two by two.
One is the talker (soul winner)
The second is what we call the silent partner (very important person in the team) It is very important that only one talks at a time. Decide who will talk & the other to be silent, or take turns. “ONLY ONE TALKS AT A TIME”
1.The soul winner: He is the one that talks, asks the questions, tries to lead them to Christ
2.The silent partner: He or she is just that. Never interrupt the soul winner unless he or she asks you to help.
The silent partner is very important. They must take care of the distractions that Satan will place out there.
EXAMPLES: The baby cries, diaper needs changing, smaller children want to see wants going on. The phone rings, dogs run out. You take care of the baby (hold him or her, change the diaper), You play with the kids, & answer the door or the phone. You go after the dogs. I think you see but most important Pray the whole (eyes open). Be interested, and be ready to help if needed.
OVERCOMING FEARS
A.Pray for power and help. (Let God lead you)
B.Pray about your fear. Psalms 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
C.Memorize approach question & plan (I like the Romans road)
D.Realize Jesus is with you. Acts 18:9-10 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
