Stepping Out In Faith.
Contributed by David Cramer on Mar 17, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: A message about taking the true step in life with not knowing the outcome in advance but trusting the Lord anyway.
Good Morning.
Please stand with me, lift up your Bible and repeat after me.
This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I can do what it says I can do.
I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.
Today I will learn more of the word of God.
The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.
I will never be the same.
I will never be the same.
In Jesus Name
Amen?
Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.
Stepping Out in Faith
Turn with me in your Bible to Matthew 14:22-33 and say, "Amen" when you are there.
Faith Requires Action
Faith is not just believing that God exists—it’s trusting Him enough to act, even when it defies logic.
One of the greatest examples of faith in action is Peter stepping out of the boat in Matthew 14:22-33. His story is our story. It’s about learning to trust Jesus beyond our comfort, beyond our fears, and beyond what seems possible.
Have you ever felt God calling you to something bigger, something uncertain, something beyond your ability?
Maybe He’s asking you to trust Him with your future, to forgive someone, to step into ministry, or to believe for a miracle. Whatever it is, today’s message is for you: Take the step of faith!
1. Jesus Calls Us to Step Out (Matthew 14:22-29)
After feeding the five thousand, Jesus sends His disciples across the sea while He goes to pray. Late at night, a storm arises, and they are terrified. Then, they see a figure walking on the water. They cry out in fear, thinking it’s a ghost.
But Jesus speaks:
“Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
At that moment, Peter does something extraordinary. Instead of staying in the boat like the others, he says:
“Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
Jesus answers with one word: “Come.”
And Peter steps out.
Jesus calls us beyond our comfort zones. Faith is not about waiting for the perfect conditions—it’s about stepping out at His word, even in the middle of the storm.
There was a young missionary who felt called to an unreached village, but he had no financial support, no resources, and no certainty of what would happen. Yet, he obeyed. Miraculously, God provided through unexpected donors.
He saw people come to Christ, and his act of faith opened doors for many.
Question: What step of faith is Jesus calling you to take today?
2. Faith Requires Keeping Our Eyes on Jesus (Matthew 14:30-31)
Peter walks on water—but then something happens. He looks around, sees the wind and waves, and begins to sink.
He cries out, “Lord, save me!” and immediately, Jesus reaches out His hand and lifts him up.
Fear will sink us, but faith will sustain us. The moment we take our eyes off Jesus and focus on our problems, doubt takes over.
There was a woman battling a serious illness. The doctors gave her a negative report, and fear overwhelmed her.
But instead of focusing on the bad news, she chose to focus on God’s promises. Day by day, she trusted in His healing and strength. She experienced peace beyond understanding and eventually saw a miraculous recovery.
What fears are distracting you from trusting God?
3. Trusting Jesus Leads to Breakthrough (Matthew 14:32-33)
After lifting Peter up, Jesus steps into the boat, and the storm stops.
The disciples, who moments earlier were full of fear, now bow down and worship Him, saying:
“Truly, You are the Son of God.”
Faith not only brings us closer to Jesus—it leads us to worship and breakthrough. When we trust Him, we see His power, and we can’t help but praise Him!
A man lost everything in a financial crisis—his business, his home, and his savings. He had no way forward, but he chose to trust God. Over time, God restored him in ways he never expected, opening doors he never imagined. His faith deepened, and his testimony inspired others.
Are you willing to trust Jesus with the outcome?
Altar Call: Take Your Step of Faith

? Trust Him in the middle of a storm.
? Let go of fear and take a bold step.
? Walk into a new calling, ministry, or opportunity.
? Surrender your life completely to Him.
Peter had to take a step before the miracle happened. What step do you need to take today?
If you’ve never given your life to Christ, this is your moment. He’s calling you to step out of the boat and into a relationship with Him. Will you trust Him today?
