Summary: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus
Galatians 5 v 1 - 12 Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus
The Stand
A Stand in Liberty - 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty
A Stand in Loyalty - wherewith Christ hath made us free, and
A Stand in Legacy - be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Horatius Bonar
On merit not my own I stand; On doings which I have not done,
Merit beyond what I can claim, Doings more perfect than my own.
Upon a life I have not lived, Upon a death I did not die,
Another’s life, Another’s death, I stake my whole eternity.
Not on the tears which I have shed: Not on the sorrows I have known,
Another’s tears, Another’s griefs, On them I rest, on them alone.
Jesus, O Son of God, I build, On what Thy cross has done for me;
There both my death and life I read, My guilt, my pardon there I see.
Lord, I believe; oh deal with me, As one who has Thy word believed!
I take the gift, Lord look on me, As one who has Thy gift received.
I taste the love the gift contains, I clasp the pardon which it brings,
and pass up to the living source, Above, whence all this fullness springs.
Here at Thy feast, I grasp the pledge, Which life eternal to me seals,
Here in the bread and wine I read, The grace and peace Thy death reveals.
O fullness of the eternal grace, O wonders past all wondering!
Here in the hall of love and song, We sing the praises of our King.
The Stir -
The Word - 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you,
The Work - that if ye be circumcised,
The Waste - Christ shall profit you nothing.
The Warning - 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised,
The Weight - that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
The Stain -
The Condition - 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you,
The Contention - whosoever of you are justified by the law;
The Conclusion - ye are fallen from grace.
The Stay -
The Warfare - 5 For we through the Spirit
The Wait - wait for the hope of righteousness
The Way - by faith.
The Welcome - 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision;
The Win - but faith which worketh by love.
The Start -
The Hope - 7 Ye did run well;
It was Personal - 7 Ye, It was Past - did, It was Positive - run well;
The Hindrance - 7 who did hinder you
The Hurt - that ye should not obey the truth?
The Hell - 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
The Harm - 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
The Stance -
His Conviction - 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord,
His Correction - that ye will be none otherwise minded:
His Contention - but he that troubleth you
His Condemnation - shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
His Confusion -
In Proclamation - 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision,
In Persecution - why do I yet suffer persecution?
In Prosecution - then is the offence of the cross ceased.
In Protestation - 12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
Rev. Dudley A. Tyng's last Message to the YMCA in Philadelphia was
“Tell them, ‘Let us all stand up for Jesus.’” George Duffield, Jr. wrote
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep He suffers, away with shame and fear;
Where’er ye meet with evil, within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles, and put the foe to rout.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, each soldier to his post,
Close up the broken column, and shout through all the host:
Make good the loss so heavy, in those that still remain,
And prove to all around you, that death itself is gain.
