spiritual Blindness
Ilus.In a little town a factory worker , lazy man never satisfied in his job, always seeks lame excuses to
get holiday so many times he put the drops of liquid from a tree, that makes his eyes blood red
telling his manager that he was suffering of eye sickness to get a days leave. He got success in getting leave
many times but soon his eyes lost sight because of the tree liquid .His ignorance made him blind.
Intro;;
Blindness is indeed a great tragedy.Satan has blinded peoples inner eyes, to unable to see the Living God!
ii corinthians 4;4"’In whom the god of this worldhas blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light
of the glorious gospel of Christ.’"
[i] Blindness by satan
people who are unable to believe christ , will be blinded by the satan, by his cunningness.
To be unable to see the beauties of this world is
bad enough, but to be unable to see the true beauties which God has prepared for
those who love Him is far worse. If the grace of God has removed
such blindness from us, let us be eternally grateful to God.
[ii]Tragedy of Blindness
To King David the idea that the blind and the lame could prevent him entering the
city, might have sounded very far-fetched. Was not David the thrice-anointed king ?
He was anointed once by the prophet samuel, once by the people of Judah and again
by the people of Israel. Was not king David called the man after God’s own heart’?
(I Sam.13:14). Did he not hold the honour of having slian Goliath, the gigantic leader of
the philistines, with merely one smooth pebble from the brook ? Had not king David
faught in numerous wars and emerged conqueror in every one of them ? surely this
warning about the blind and the lame was a jeering taunt !
King David then set out to take the stronghold of zion which was an earthly city,
calling it ’the city of David’ (II Sam.5:9; 1 Kgs. 8;1). It remained zion, the city David,
and finally David was buried in it (1 Kgs. 2:10).
The Bible speaks mainly of the eternal zion. "But ye are come unto Mount Sion and
unto the city of the living God, the heavently Jerusalem" (Heb. 12:22). This city is in the
process of being built. Its foundation stone is christ (I Pet. 2:6). After the lord has
finished building zion, He will appear in glory (psa , 102:16). Just as David faced a
blockade from the blind and the lame, we too can be hindered by the blind and the lame.
We shall now consider who the blind are.
"And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites the inhabitants of
the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the
lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.Nevertheless,
David took the stronghold of zion : the same is the city of David"(II sam. 5:6,7).
King David went to Jerusalem and there the Jebusites offered him a challenge that
was as ridiculous as it was despicable, The Jebusites became inhabitants of Jerusalem
because the children of benjamin had previously failed to drive them out (Judg. 1:21).
The children of Judah also tried unsuccessfully to drive them out (Josh. 15:63).
Blindness is indeed a great tragedy. To be unable to see the beauties of this world
is bad enough but to be unable to see the true beauties which God has prepared for
those who love Him is far worse ! There are millions in this world who have been
blinded by the prince of this world, satan. Their spiritual eyes have been blinded so
that they are nable to see the light of the gospel and believe the lord Jesus Christ. They
may have perfect physical eyesight, but as far as eternity is concerned, they are blind.
"But if our gospel be bid, it is hid to them that are lost : In whom the God of this world
hath blinded the minds of them which believe not Jest the light of the glorious gospel of
christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them"(II cor. 4:3,4). such are lost
and are outside christ.
[iii]Blinds in the churches
Strangly, there are some blind within the church also. they are considered blind
beacause their spiritual vision is not sharp. Their vision is blurred and they are
partially blind. They have somehow found their way to Jerusalem but because of their
handicap, they are unable to press on and as such neither will they go forward norallow
others to do so. they are an obstacle and a source of distraction to those who are on the
