To highlight the importance of truly knowing God, understanding the consequences of ignorance, and the blessings that come from obedience to His word.

Introduction

Good morning, family. Today, we're diving into a message that hits home for every one of us. It's about our need to truly know God, the consequences of living in ignorance and the abundant blessings that obedience to God brings. As A.W. Tozer once said, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."

The Need to Know God

Knowing God is not a mere religious obligation or a Sunday morning ritual; it is the very essence of our existence. It is the core of our spiritual journey and the foundation of our faith. The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." This lack of knowledge refers to the ignorance about God, His character, His commandments, and His love for us.

The need to know God is not just about knowing His name or His attributes. It is about having a personal, intimate relationship with Him. It is about experiencing His presence in our lives, understanding His will, and aligning our lives according to His purpose. It is about acknowledging Him as our Creator, our Sustainer, and our Redeemer.

The need to know God is also about recognizing our own limitations and weaknesses. We are finite beings with limited understanding and capabilities. We cannot comprehend the mysteries of life and the universe on our own. We need God's wisdom and guidance to navigate through the complexities of life. We need His strength to overcome our weaknesses and His grace to cover our shortcomings.

Moreover, the need to know God is about finding true peace and fulfillment in life. The world offers us temporary pleasures and fleeting happiness, but only God can give us eternal joy and lasting satisfaction. As St. Augustine famously said, "You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You."

The need to know God is also about preparing for eternity. This life is temporary, and we are destined for eternity. Our knowledge of God will determine our eternal destiny. If we know God as our loving Father and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we will spend eternity with Him in heaven. But if we reject God and live in ignorance, we will face eternal separation from Him.

Furthermore, the need to know God is about becoming more like Him. The more we know God, the more we become like Him. We start reflecting His character in our thoughts, words, and actions. We start loving what He loves and hating what He hates. We start seeking His kingdom and His righteousness above all else.

Lastly, the need to know God is about experiencing true freedom. Jesus said in John 8:32, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." The truth is God Himself. When we know God, we know the truth. And when we know the truth, we experience true freedom - freedom from sin, guilt, fear, and condemnation.
