Sermon - soaring Soul

- When something amazing happens, or something life changing happens. What do we

do after those moments?

- Let me give you an example, I remember I was given permission to cruise, just like

a toddler is learning to walk & would cruise down the couch. I can’t remember why

I was given permission. Whether it was because I was no longer restricted to no

more than being up at 45 degrees for my back, I got the cast off my right leg, or

the pins out of my left foot toes. I just remember cruising along the side of the

bed.

- That was a life changing moment!

- Amazing miracles happen all the time, but after they’ve come, the amazing has

taken place, we’re once again faced with yet another question that demands

an answer.

Q- The question: Now that things have changed, now that you’re saved, will you soar?

- You’re alive, then choose to live!

- I was allowed to cruise up & down my bed.

Q- Does That mean I Now get back in bed & act like nothing happened?

- Let’s open our Bibles to Isaiah 40:31, & in this one verse we are being tasked to trust

in the miracle that has saved us from death.

Isaiah 40:31

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

- Christ has saved all that will trust in Him, they are His.

- That is the truth that each person is to wait upon,

Q- but when He has saved you, do you have faith enough to believe that He who has

started this precious work in you is faithful enough to finish it?

Q- So, will you soar/live knowing Jesus has you?

Prayer

> The Bath Tub Senility Test (www.my-pastor.com/christian-jokes.html)

During a visit to a hospital for the mentally infirm, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was that defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub; then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup.

"No," said the Director, "a normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed by the wall or near the window?"

- Christ came to give us life, & to have it more abundantly!

- Jesus said that in John 10:10.

Q- Now, did He say that so we would stop in our faith & say, oh I sinned too much for

Christ’s atonement to redeem me?

- Yes, you can take that statement out of context, & think that after you’re saved

you can sin all you want & live like the devil.

- No, that would just prove that you were never saved to begin with.

- Jesus told the Disciples of this life, because He wanted them to experience true

freedom.

Q- What does freedom look like?

- Since the fall of mankind in the garden of Eden, we have been under the power of

sin ever since.

- Sin has been our task master.

- We can look at a drug addict & say, I don’t understand how they were willing to

give up everything for these drugs, but what has happened is, the drug is their

task master.

- The drug is so drawing & beautiful that you have to have it.

- That’s Sin. Sin is beautiful. We often have to have it.

Q- How many people addicted to nicotine turn back to it when they fail at quitting it?

- Let me put it to you this way, Many Do!

- Jesus in Luke 4:18 said,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

- Jesus says, I’m not some simple nicotine patch that wears off, & has to be replaced. I

am the atonement,

- The atonement That you are sealed by, by the Holy Spirit, unto the day of

redemption.

- It’s Eternal!

Q- Do you remember in the marriage vows you say, til death do us part?

- In Christ there is no death. Nothing that can separate us, & this Holy Union.

John 5:24

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
