Similarities’ In Cry.

Matthew 23:37-38NKJV

“Right before today’s text in Matthew 37:13-39, ‘Jesus gives many woes to church leaders. In fact, Jesus gives 7 woes to these supposed leaders. Blind guides teaching the blind, Woe!” P.H

Jesus condemns, Teaching proselyte, and them becoming sons of hell, Woe! Teaching against Jesus, Woe! Teaching without principles, Woe! Teaching outward appearances while leaving the inward dark, Woe! Teaching hypocrisy, Woe! Teaching without character, Woe! Teaching murder and hate, Woe! P.H 

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38 See! Your house is left to you desolate;

Prophetic and chilling words, these are the last words that the Lord Jesus Christ would address to His beloved city, Jerusalem before His crucifixion there.

Jesus’ cry, and a parents cry are very similar in many ways.

1. The first way Jesus’ cry and parents cry are similar, they both call out the person, or identity by name. O Jerusalem!

“Growing up, when my mom called my name- “Howard, it meant something was up.” “Hopefully Daddy arrived, and it’s supper time!” Now when my daddy called my name, I came running, and answered-Sir. P.H

The second thought about Jesus’ cry and my parents cry.

2. Jesus’ description of Jerusalem, and my parents description of what I had been doing that particular day, we're pretty much correct.

Matthew 23:37NKV ”Thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee.”

Killing prophets.

Stoning the sent.

“Listen to the words of this powerful verse that’s tied to another miracle for God’s chosen people!”

2 Chronicles 20:20NIV  Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”

Judah believed both, and their praise brought confusion to the enemy. Judah’s mission was successful, as the Lord turned their enemy on each other!

Again, Believe the Lord, Believe His prophets!

The third thought about, Jesus’ cry and a parents cry.

3. Parent’s desperately love their children, and like Jesus, “parents forgive!”

Matthew 23:37C…How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

Again, Just like Jesus, “Parents dream of gathering their family together- A love feast!”

The last words of verse 37…but you were not willing!

The fourth thought about Jesus’ cry and a parents cry.

4. Where Jesus and parents aren’t welcomed, the land and the people become desolate.

Matthew 23:38NLT And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate.

Again, Matthew 23:37-38TM Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Murderer of prophets! Killer of the ones who brought you God’s news! How often I’ve ached to embrace your children, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you wouldn’t let me. 38 And now you’re so desolate, nothing but a ghost town.

One final thought about Jesus’ cry and a parents cry.

5. In spite of everything, Jesus and parents love to forgive sin.

In John 8, A woman was brought to Jesus that was caught in the very act of adultery. However, according to Levitical Law, the guilty man had to be brought along with the woman. Where was he?

As the people condemned her, Jesus stooped down, He spoke, “Whoever is not guilty of sin you, throw the first stone.”

“Ever wonder what Jesus was writing in the sand, as one by one the murderous vindictive people left?” P.H

Maybe this, listen to Jeremiah 17:13NIV Lord, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water.

“He’s writing their names is the sand!’ ‘My God, forgive us!” P.H

This verse is about Judah’s shame, because of their own unfaithfulness.

Micah 7:17NLT Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

In closing, “I believe that the Lord is looking for spiritual father and spiritual mother’s, who will instill or implant themselves into the love of Jesus, and at the same time disciple younger dad’s and moms.” P.H
