Shutting The Gates Of Hell.

Rev. 21:12-13.

Gatekeepers are guardians or wardens of the gates. A guard stationed at the entranceway of a city would have to discern friends from foes, especially at night.

King David set the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord, so that no one who was in any way unclean could enter. Their duties are described in 1Chronicles 9 and 15, and 2 Chronicles 23:19.

Thus, spiritual gate is more than a mere door. As ports to a city are of immense importance and authority for its people, so are spiritual gates. Spiritual gatekeepers are highly regarded for their roles because safety and the peace of a city largely rest upon the vigilance and the ability of the gatekeepers, who are the protectors of the city.

There are two spiritual gates that Christians should be wary of, and these are the gates of heaven and the gates of hell.

The gates of heaven are entrances through which the light, life and blessings of God come upon the earth. It is through this gate that his judgement comes and will continue to come upon the powers of darkness.

Also, the gates of hell are entranceways through which the devil and the enemies gain access into the lives of many people.

It is of utmost importance that Christians understand and discern both, so that they are able to exercise their God-given power and authority to shut the gates of hell, and guard the gates of heaven.

The spiritual gates of hell are entranceways through which the devil or enemies gain access into an individual’s life. The enemies can gain access if you allow them through these gates of hell. Our Lord Jesus Christ was simply telling us about the importance of guarding the gates of hell in our lives. Satan could not find grabbing places on Jesus; however, he often finds convenient ones in our lives. If you can boldly say what Jesus declared, then you have shut up the gates of hell. Jesus said:

“Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”

John 14:30.

The Prince of this world comes into peoples lives daily unchallenged. A person’s sin can provide Satan with access into their life thereby opening the gates of hell.

There are some regions such as towns, cities, nations in the world that have evil foundations. These are places noted for terrible history of genocide, cannibalism, holocaust, gruesome wars, slavery, political trickery and deception. These are places where innocent blood was shed. The blood of the slain continually cries to heaven for vengeance.

Cain in the bible murdered his brother Abel and opened the gate of hell unto himself:

“And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?

And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.

And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
