Introduction

 This week I want to continue on sharpening our hearing. Last week we discussed that as Christians, we must sharpen our hearing by opening ourselves up to the Word of God. Meditation on the Word builds your faith and faith comes by hearing, by the Word of God.

 When you remain in expectation, you position yourself to receive from God. Expect God to give you a Rhema Word so you can complete His task for your life.

 Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles, signs and wonders.

 God wants to reveal to you His hidden mysteries, but you must sharpen your hearing. Get to know what God is saying.

 Your hearing from God will tremendously improve when you frequently pray in the Spirit. Spend time praying in the spirit!

 When you pray in tongues, you draw out hidden wisdom that only comes from God that produces supernatural results. Wisdom from Heaven supersedes the natural mind.

 We become sons and daughters of God and operate in divine authority on Earth when we have sharpened our hearing.

 Let us look to what the Word of God says about sharpening our hearing this morning.

(NKJV) Romans 10 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1) Safeguards to observe when you sharpen your hearing from God.

a) Shout…Jesus I am sharpening my hearing this morning.

b) When what God is speaking to you will go against the reasons and rationalizations of the world.

c) It will require faith.

d) It will require courage.

e) It will line up with the Word of God.

f) Peace will rule in your heart like an umpire.

2) Faith begins by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

(NKJV) John 14 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

a) Shout…Lead me Holy Spirit.

b) When you are led by the Spirit of God, you will be led into successful places.

(NKJV) Galatians 5 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

c) People of the world are watching your every move.

(NKJV) Romans 8 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

d) People want what you have. They want the relationship with God and some don’t even realize it yet.

3) How to sharpen your hearing.

a) Maintain a spirit of expectancy and faith.

i) Expect to hear God's voice every day.

b) Pray in the spirit and pray without ceasing.

i) There are some breakthroughs that will only come to pass through supernatural means.

ii) Spend time praying in the spirit at least a half-hour a day.

iii) Pray without ceasing.

(1) Do not give up on prayer.

4) Pray in the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 4: 1-21)

a) Shout…I am going to new levels with Jesus.

b) When you pray in the spirit, you pray on a higher, supernatural level.

i) Your spirit prays.

ii) You release your most holy faith.

(NKJV) Jude 1 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

iii) You build yourself up in the love of God.

iv) You are sharpening your hearing – spiritually.

c) It requires faith to pray in tongues because you pray in a language that is unknown to you.

d) Every Christian has the ability to speak in tongues.

i) However, the gift of tongues is the ability to interpret tongues that are spoken; everyone does not have this ability.

(1) This particular gift comes from God and cannot be turned on at will but only by His leading.

(2) Pray for the ability to interpret your tongues so you can understand the hidden mysteries you prayed.

ii) When interpreting tongues and/or prophesying to a congregation, it is better to do so in a language everyone understands.

iii) Praying in tongues only edifies the person praying.

e) Have faith in the things of God.

i) God has given you the ability to speak in an unknown language and receive His wisdom.

ii) There will be those who will not receive from or hear God.

(NKJV) 1 Corinthians 14 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified. 18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; 19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. 20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature. 21 In the law it is written: “ With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me,” says the Lord.
