Seven Time Tested Truths Text: Ecclesiastes 1:1-2,12: 13-14

1.Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say,“ I have no pleasure in them”: 2 “ Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “ Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. 14 For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

The theme of Ecclesiastes is set forth in Ecclesiastes 1:3 “What profit has a man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun?” The word ‘Profit’ here can be translated gain or value! Vanity is a key word also in this book. Vanity in Hebrew is ‘hebel’ meaning breath. Solomon concludes that everything mere men do and even accomplish without God is sickening! ( That’s why it’s so important to always put God first!)

In Ephesians 4:14 Paul echoes the same words when he said, 14). That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

In other words even when it comes to God’s word we need to make sure that we aren’t following after men’s doctrines, and that we stay on a rock solid Biblical path!

Make sure you are following everything connected to John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

This might sound a little dogmatic, but if Jesus isn’t in the center of what you are doing maybe you need to revamp! (Rethink and reorganize)

Here are seven simple tested truths: 1. Love God more than you fear hell!

Before every word “Love” say “God’s love” I Corinthians 13:4-8a Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8a Love never fails.

Simple truth #2. Make major decisions in a cemetery! No one there is troubled. No one there is in a hurry. Is your decision really life and death!

Simple truth #3. When no one is watching, live as if someone is!

Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

The Message Bible say’s in Galatians 6:7-8 Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

Simple truth #4 Succeed at home first! Do you really think God is going to help you like you want Him to when you want help your spouse at home?

Simple truth #5 Don’t spend tomorrow’s money today. Hold off on those quick unwise decisions!

Simple truth #6 Pray twice as much as you fret.

Psalm 37:1-3 1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Once I was so angry about how I was treated by another believer (best friend) that I can’t even tell you my thoughts, but God shook all that anger out of me by using this chapter in the Bible. He woke me up at 444am. He spoke unto my heart for me to read this chapter 3 times! All the anger and hurt was gone!

Simple truth #7 God has forgiven you; you’d be wise to do the same.

Micah 7:19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.

So what are you holding onto that’s taking the very life of God out of you? Give it over to Christ; He can handle it. He has already bore it; He’s paid the price!
