Summary: The believer needs the Holy Spirit's power for effective worship and God's service.

SERVING GOD IN THE SPIRIT'S POWER.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth

God desires every believer to

receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The believer needs the Holy Spirit's power for effective worship and service to God. It is of great benefits and advantage to possess the Holy Spirit. A Christian without the Holy Spirit's power cannot live the fullness of the Christian life.

Why do we need the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?

1. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to live a dynamics and extraordinary life that was not possible without Him.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

2. The Holy Spirit helps us in our praying.

He strengthens us and gives us the unction to pray according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

The Holy Spirit enables the believer to experience constant revival and renewal in prayer and the service of God.

The prayer of a Spirit-filled believer can move mountains of problems, break the yokes of Satan and destroy all the works of the devil in our lives.

3. The Holy Spirit makes us bold, fearless and effective in our service to God.

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

4. The Holy Spirit gives us insight and understanding of God's word and bring to our remembrance all we have read from His word.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

5. The Holy Spirit gives the power of discernment. He reveals the mystery of God.

1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

How to receive the Holy Spirit:

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

* You must be genuinely born again and live the victorious Christian life.

*Repent of your self-sufficiency; trying to be a witness for Christ and living the Christian life in your power.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

* You must have a strong desire to receive the experience.

* A fervent prayer of faith will usher you into the realm of the power of God and your life will never remain the same.

May God bless and keep you
