  • Issachar And Zebulun Series

Contributed by John Lowe on Apr 3, 2022

The sages read Genesis 49:13-15 very differently. They glorified Issachar while explaining away Zebulun's calm superiority in a way that does not denigrate Issachar. Zebulun was an aggressive tribe on the ascendancy, but Issachar was comparatively weak.

Issachar and Zebulun Among Jacob's sons from Leah, Issachar was the fifth and Zebulun the sixth (Genesis 30:18-20). 18Then Leah said, "God has given me my wages because I gave my maid to my husband." So she named him Issachar. 19Leah conceived again and bore a sixth son to Jacob. ...read more

  • Learning To Trust In A Skeptical World

Contributed by Jack Perkins, D.min., Ladc, Csac, Cclc on Oct 12, 2021
     | 3,723 views

I believe the book of Micah shows us the tragedy of a society where trust is absent; however, the book also shows us how to regain that which is lost.

In recent weeks I have been pondering a very important question: "What is the common denominator for understanding healthy relationships? We could postulate many words (e.g., friendship, tolerance, respect, appreciation, etc.). I then contemplated, what happens if trust is absent in a ...read more

When Your Name Is Called? What’s in a name? We all have them. Maybe our name is very common or like one fellow from W VA our names may be unique. Being a Christian, living a Christian life is not something which occurs spontaneously or automatically. It doesn’t just happen. We don’t just sit back and do nothing about it.

The garden was given to man as a ‘rectangle of control’; a world in which were rules, guidelines, and established systems. Man was placed there to ‘dress it’ and care for it. Man was given full and direct charge over that garden and EVERYTHING in it.

To own something is to acknowledge it as belonging to one’s self; recognized as having full claim, authority, power, dominion… even to have or hold as one’s own; to possess. Now… how one came about the ownership does not change the ownership, itself. Don’t let the two intertwine, for now. The ...read more
