The Restoration Of Sight And The Reception Of Salvation

In John 9, we read of the healing and salvation of a poor, blind man who has received not only physical sight, but also spiritual sight to see that Jesus was the Promised One of God. We also witness the deliberate spiritual lack of sight by the religious leaders who rejected the Light of God.

The Credentials Of The Good Shepherd

Of the numerous images of Jesus painted by John in his Gospel, probably the most descriptive is that of the Good Shepherd (John 10). Like a shepherd, Jesus is concerned with the welfare and care of His flock, showing His never changing love and compassion.

Jesus' parable of the wedding banquet (Matthew 22:1-14) is a call to salvation. There will be many who will make poor excuses and refuse the invitation. There will be those who accept it with gratitude, but some will try to enter in their own way. In which category do you fit?

The original recipients of the invitation to the banquet (Matthew 22:1-7) refused to attend, giving flimsy excuses that resulted in their destruction (v.7). Who would attend the banquet now? Here is where we see the king's mercy extend to "the least of these".

The Scientific Brilliance Of Genesis 1: A Second Helping
