  • When God Says "No”!

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Mar 16, 2022
     | 3,707 views

One of the many things we take for granted each day is our God-given ability to be able to communicate with each other. But sometimes the words we use get us in a lot of trouble.

Illus: This reminds us of the young male clerk who was working at a department store's fabric counter. A very pretty girl said to the young male clerk, "I want to buy this material for a new dress. How much will this fabric cost?" He smilingly said, "Only a kiss a ...read more

There are two things we all will agree on in this congregation:

    (1) WE RECOGNIZE THAT GOD CREATED US Christians believe in CREATIONISM not in EVOLUTION. Why? One of the reasons is that evolution does not make any sense. Illus: Did you hear about the six year old girl that was sitting in a classroom? The teacher was going to explain evolution to the ...read more

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Mar 17, 2022
     | 1,033 views

I guess everyone at some time has thought how nice it would have been to have been born with a “Silver Spoon” in our mouth. This of course, is an expression of being born rich!

America is the land of envy, people from all over the world desire to live here. Other nations are jealous of the wealth God has blessed this nation with. Even the poorest people in this country are envied. Illus: The Census Bureau tells us that in 2003, a family of four is considered to be ...read more

  • God Demands Complete Obedience

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Mar 18, 2022
     | 1,875 views

God has given us different talents because God has different jobs for each of us to do.

Most of us understand that, but what many do not seem to understand is what God has called them to do and equipped them to do, HE EXPECTS THEM TO DO! Our desire should be as Christ's. He said in John 4:34, "...My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." ...read more

  • Issachar And Zebulun Series

Contributed by John Lowe on Apr 3, 2022

The sages read Genesis 49:13-15 very differently. They glorified Issachar while explaining away Zebulun's calm superiority in a way that does not denigrate Issachar. Zebulun was an aggressive tribe on the ascendancy, but Issachar was comparatively weak.

Issachar and Zebulun Among Jacob's sons from Leah, Issachar was the fifth and Zebulun the sixth (Genesis 30:18-20). 18Then Leah said, "God has given me my wages because I gave my maid to my husband." So she named him Issachar. 19Leah conceived again and bore a sixth son to Jacob. ...read more

In Exodus, chapter 3, when God called Moses to do something great for Him, how did Moses respond? He was very reluctant!

Look at Exodus 3:1-9, we read, “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: ...read more

  • Learning To Trust In A Skeptical World

Contributed by Jack Perkins, D.min., Ladc, Csac, Cclc on Oct 12, 2021
     | 3,428 views

I believe one of the greatest issues facing our world today, to include the church, is the fact that trust has all but disappeared in relationships. I believe the book of Micah shows us the tragedy of a society where trust is absent; however, the book also shows us how to regain that which is lost.

In recent weeks I have been pondering a very important question: "What is the common denominator for understanding healthy relationships? We could postulate many words (e.g., friendship, tolerance, respect, appreciation, etc.). I then contemplated, what happens if trust is absent in a ...read more

  • What The Bible Teaches About Cremation

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Oct 28, 2021
     | 4,666 views

The purpose of this course is to make today’s Christian think about some of the things we are facing in our society as Christians. Christian people should be “thinking” people when it comes to the issues we face in our society.

For example, as Christians: • We can not allow others to do our thinking for us when it comes to deciding what is RIGHT and what is WRONG. • We can not just ignore these issues we face and hope they will go away. Through the ages of time, God’s people have had to face difficult situations in ...read more

This king's experience of evil coming in the face of determined good effort and obedience mirrors the experience of devout men and women of every age and teaches us to believe in the constant working of Divine Providence, even in difficult circumstances.

2 CHRONICLES 32:1-8 ACTS OF FAITHFULNESS [Isaiah 37:10-20, 36-38; Ps. 46; 2 Kgs 18:13-19:37] King Hezekiah [reigned 726–697 BC] had been on fire for the Lord God. First he had aggressively removed evil influences from his life (30:14; 31:1). Next he had torn down the idols in Israel and then ...read more

  • Pets Are Forever

Contributed by Glenn Pease on Mar 5, 2021

Maybe we cannot be dogmatic, but since there is nothing to forbid it, and much to imply it, there is no reason to deny it, but many reasons to affirm it that pets are forever.

Ralph Helfer is one of those famous people very few know about. He is well known to those who use his services, but they are so specialized that most of us never become aware of his uniqueness. He has entertained all of us even though we have not likely ever seen him. Ralph has supplied animal ...read more

May God help us to be thankful for our past; thankful for our present, but most of all thankful for the permanent, which means, thanking God for Himself.

A chaplain of some prison trustees once came to his group and announced that he was going on a six week trip to Europe. He had been a faithful servant to them for years, and they appreciated him a great deal. They began to slap him on the back as they expressed their congratulations, and they ...read more

  • Don't Follow Folly

Contributed by Reuben Bredenhof on Feb 2, 2021
     | 2,404 views

Will we live on the streets of “sin city,” laying our head down in the gutter of wickedness? Or will we listen to the invitation of wisdom, to follow in God’s ways and live in the glory of his eternal mansions?

How wonderful all things were in the beginning! When we read Genesis 1, we hear this theme repeated: “And God saw that it was good.” Time and again, culminating with this declaration on the sixth day: “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (v 31). It was very good. Man and woman ...read more

    Growing from Fear to Faith

I’d like to speak this morning about faith. We are people of faith, amen? However, there are times when some of us struggle with not having enough faith. A broken relationship, news of a life-threatening illness, loss of a job, or your house burns to the ground, a normal response is to feel ...read more
