The famous opponent of Christianity - Voltaire - actually believed the dead could be raised. He believed in a famous scientist of the day who maintained he had done just that. Voltaire rejected Jesus and His real resurrection and embraced a scientist and his false claim.

The apostle Thomas gets the short end of the stick when we read about him and his "doubts" in the Gospel of John. He is more like you and I than we want to admit, and his story affirms it.

Thomas helps us to understand what Jesus was teaching His disciples during His post resurrection appearances. Those who loved him on the earth had to learn to live without the physical appearance of Christ - the actual seeing, touching, and hearing him.
