Jesus is preparing to ascend back into Heaven to sit down at the right hand of God. But before He leaves, He commands and commissions His men to reach the world with the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus saves. He tells them to wait for the Promise of the Father, which is the Holy Ghost!

Until the time of Jesus’ resurrection, the mission was primarily to other Jews. Non Jews were proselytized; however they sought Jesus and his disciples out. Here Jesus explicitly commands the disciples to reach out.
