The citizens of Jerusalem clearly have a longing for peace. In fact the Jewish word for Peace – Shalom- comes from the word Jerusalem. It is for that reason that Jews refer to it as the City of Peace”.

We all want comfort. And God offers it to us as he did to the exiled Israelites. We can take comfort that our sin has been paid in full, that God's word outlasts our problems, and that God is coming again. Forgiven, forever, for sure!
