  • Stewardship Is Lordship

Contributed by Jerry Flury on Sep 27, 2002
    based on 424 ratings

When we think of stewardship, we often see it merely as a matter of our giving of money to God and the church. Giving of tithes and offerings is an important aspect of stewardship, but secondary. Stewardship is a reflection of my relationship with God.

Stewardship is Lordship Proverbs 3:5-10 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to your navel, and marrow ...read more

This morning, as we continue into our New Year, I’d like to take a look at a verse that I think we ought to read every day of the year. As a reminder of just WHO our God is:

I found an old file entitled: “Kids on Love & Marriage” Concerning the Proper Age to Get Married "Once I’m done with kindergarten, I’m going to find me a wife." -Bert, Age 5 "Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then." -Camille, age 10 "No age is good to get ...read more

Contributed by Craig Hale on Sep 26, 2003
    based on 14 ratings

Forgiveness is God’s precious gift. We may at times think that we wont be forgiven, but no matter what we do He will always leave a light on and He takes us back with open arms.

Introduction: Hosea highlights the parallels between his relationship with Gomer and God’s relationship of Israel. Although Israel made a covenant with the one true God, she sought after other false gods. In the same way Hosea married Gomer knowing a haed of time she would leave him. Hosea ...read more

  • The Bad And Good Of Leaven

Contributed by Howard Strickland on Aug 19, 2007
    based on 4 ratings

I think Jesus is saying here that I can take care of divine multiplication, and I can handle a miracle! However, I can’t help those who take in and receive the leaven of this world!

The Bad and Good of Leaven Text: Matthew 16:5-12 5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is ...read more

  • Too Busy Not To Pray

Contributed by Joseph Smith on Sep 13, 2009
    based on 4 ratings

When we think we are too busy to pray, we are succumbing to the issue of control: either we suppose we can manage everything or we want to abdicate. Prayer is the way to find priorities and strength.

Let me throw some numbers at you. Imagine that you were in charge of an operation that involves, on the average, some ten thousand people a week, almost all of whom come together at one time. Of these ten thousand or so, not all will get there every time, but sometimes many more than that will show ...read more

Contributed by Steven Buhr on Jan 19, 2011
    based on 4 ratings

I was thinking about whether there is just 'one thing' that is most needed in life. So I looked up that phrase…one thing. Here’s what I read in the Gospel of Luke

A choice to make… Jan. 2, 2011 Intro: - how would you rate your 2010? Good year? Bad year? Physically or spiritually? Do you feel closer to God or does it feel like He’s further away? - do you think you made good choices in 2010? - we’ve just had a busy season, busy ...read more

  • Envy

    based on 4 ratings

Let’s be honest – it’s in all of us. From the cradle to the grave envy’s in our hearts and you see it come to the surface in the things we think and say.

Envy Exodus 20:7; Gen. 37 Introduction I want you to imagine two small town grocery store owners; two men who are bitter rivals. Their stores are right across the street from each other, and they spend each day with an eye on each other, keeping track of each other’s business. One gets a ...read more

  • Rest In Peace

Contributed by Andrew Drummond on Dec 17, 2009
    based on 5 ratings

Many people think that you have to be dead to get rest, yet the Bible clearly states that we can and should have peace in our lives. In fact it should be something that defines us and separates us...

The Latin phrase "Requiescat in pace" is a short epitaph that typically appears on headstones, often abbreviated "RIP" which is then often given in English as Rest in peace. The expression means "may he / she rest in peace". Rest in peace probably sounds like a pretty nice idea to most of you here ...read more

  • Love Is Forgetful Series

Contributed by Paul Green on Oct 28, 2009
    based on 14 ratings

We often think of forgetfulness as a weakness, as a problem. And more often than not that is true. But there is a time when forgetfulness becomes an absolute necessity. Paul says that ‘Love – keeps no record of wrongs’ He says that love is forgetful.

In the middle of that list of what love is, Paul says that ‘Love – keeps no record of wrongs’ (v5). In other words what he is saying is that, as well as being patient, and kind and a whole host of other things – love is also forgetful! –‘ Love - keeps no record of wrongs’ Love is forgetful! Now ...read more

  • God Loves A Hilarious Giver!

Contributed by Warner Pidgeon on May 23, 2009
    based on 4 ratings

God loves a cheerful, hilarious giver. This is a short all-age appropriate talk using a story and the giving out of chocolates to help people think about the resources God wants them to use hilariously for him.

On one occasion Jesus said: “Give; and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38). God is so good to me. God is so generous. St Paul once wrote that ...read more

  • I Am The Vine

Contributed by Ben Peak on Jan 3, 2008
    based on 6 ratings

So we have Jesus as the Vine, God the Father as the Vinedresser, and us as the branches. Having made those distinctions, let me share with you the lessons I think we can learn from this passage.

A while back we began a study of the times throughout the Gospel of John where Jesus said, “I am…” I am the Light of the world. I am the Door. I am the Good Shepherd. I am the Bread of Life. Tonight I want us to close out this series by looking at another one of these statements that Jesus ...read more

As we continue to follow the life of Abraham one would think after a event like separating from his own flesh and blood (Lot), that things would be different. But it is in times like these that God shines through.

Abraham: Following in the Footsteps Of Faith GOD’S PROMISE TO ABRAM RENEWED Genesis 13:14-18 Intro: Last week we looked at the trouble that arose between Abram and Lot, over the feeding of their livestock. And we learned just how each man handled that situation. Abram handled it with peace and in ...read more
