We know that Jacob worked for Laban for 20 years in total (Genesis 31:38). Genesis 29:18 indicates that Jacob spent 7 years working for Laban to receive Rachel as his wife.

Nathaniel is open-minded enough to come see Jesus for himself, and overcomes his initial skepticism. This makes him the ideal Israelite. Also, Jesus is not a ladder. Angels come "to" Jesus, not "upon" him.

In the texts that is before us We have 2 spiritual encounters of Jacob's life. The 1st encounter was at a place called Bethel. In Genesis chapter 28, Jacob met God at Bethel. It was At Bethel, Jacob saw a ladder. But at Peniel he saw the Lord.
