Many People Have Had Divine Opportunities That They Have Blown. Either they did not realize the significance of what they had or they knew but took it for granted. Gehazi the servant of Elisha is one of such examples. He trampled on a divine opportunity.

Naaman was commanded to dip in the Jordan River seven times. He finally did and was healed of his leprosy. But beforehand, he put up quite a fight. His preconceptions about how God works, and his pride, both got in the way.

Many years ago, I attended Shoutfest, which is a Christian music festival held in Somerset, Kentucky; and I heard a new band perform called “Seven Times Down,” which I thought was really good. Naaman was a powerful man, with all the success one could desire, all the esteem and glory, BUT he had leprosy. The account of his cure is of value to us as it contains lessons that benefit us in many ways. It was God who wrought the miracle, not Elisha. He was the willing servant.
