Summary: Sometimes, we laugh at God
Sometimes we laugh at God (Genesis 18: 9-15)
Have you ever laughed at what God has told you?
Has God ever told you something and you thought there is no way that this would ever happen?
You will say, I am not hearing this correctly
God has way more confidence in me then I do
First and foremost, we tend to forget a very important scripture in the Bible
Philippians 4:13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
See, we seem to keep believing the lies that Satan is spitting at us every single day
You are not good enough, you can’t do it, just stop - give up, nobody cares
Have you ever noticed that when you are in a group of people, it is always easier to talk negative?
It’s called gossip, we do it to make ourselves look and feel better
We get caught up in this mindset that if we talk about someone, it takes the heat off of me, it takes the focus off of me
This is called insecurities, it is unhealed wounds
We will use people in a horrible way just to make ourselves feel better
We will make fun of people to get people to laugh so that they will like us
We will hang around what we call an ugly person so that we look more attractive
Hang around a larger person so that we don’t look so large
Why do we do this?
Just like Sarah, we just don’t believe God can do certain things
We trust Satan, man and ourselves more than than we do the one who created us
Do you hear how sill that sounds when you say it out loud
We trust Satan
We believe him when he tells us we are ugly, incompetent, we are not loved, nobody wants me etc etc
It all boils down to we don’t believe God
Sarah did not think that she could conceive a child at her age just as we think that we are not good enough
What is it today that God told you could do and you don’t believe him and you chuckled
We don’t believe
Ask Daniel, ask Shadrach Meshack and abindago, ask Noah
I can go on all day long
If God says you can do it, you can do it
9) Abraham knew God and God knew Abraham
God was Abraham’s friend and Abraham was God’s friend
God asked where is his wife Sarah
God knew where she was
God will ask questions and he knows the answer but he wants to see how you will answer and to see where you are at
Look at Adam when God asked him Adam where are you
God knew exactly where Adam was
God said go ahead and hide, I know where you are
Adam done said he got scared and hid because he was naked
God responded with who told you that you were naked
Abraham answered with she is over in her tent
10) God told Abraham that he will return this time next year and Sarah will have a son
Sarah was standing at the door of the tent and overheard them
A little eavesdropping
Don’t be judging her, you would have done the same
Come on now, did you hear that God was talking with her husband
I would say that was pretty special to see and hear
That would be a sight to see and a conversation that I would like to hear as well
11)Now here is a fun fact, Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 100
I don’t need to explain how babies are born
At this age, some will argue the point that it is physically impossible for this to happen
But if they said that, they clearly don’t know our God
Truth of the matter is that we put a cap on what God is capable of
We have faith to a certain extent
It is so easy to have faith when things are going good or if it falls under the category of “ I believe that could happen”
But when it comes to something of this degree, we say that can’t happen
Why don’t we let Daniel preach a little while
Shadrach, Meshach and Abidndago
Jonah
If we could ever get to a point where we literally trusted God with everything in us
We could move mountains
When we heard something to this extreme, our answer would be - yes, my God can definitely do that
God has to be the one to tell you not the world
We are living in an era where the world will convince you, you can do whatever you set your mind to it
We constantly are lying to our children, if you put your mind to it, you can do it
