Summary: ROME
Acts 28 v 1 - 16 ROME
The Ground - 1 & when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. (Malta)
It was Solid Ground, Strange Ground, Sacred Ground, Sympathetic Ground, Supportive Ground.
The Grace -
The Place - Malta,
The People - 2 and the barbarous people
The Provision -
The Favour - shewed us no little kindness:
The Fire - for they kindled a fire,
The Fervour - and received us every one,
The Factor - because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
The Graft -
The Work - 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks
The Want - and laid them on the fire,
The Wicked - there came a viper out of the heat,
The Willful - and fastened on his hand.
The Grudge -
The Sight - 4 and when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand,
The Saying - they said among themselves,
The Supposition - No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance (the goddess Justice) suffereth not to live.
The Grit - 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
How Serious - the threat - a venomous beast hanging on his hand,
How Sinister - 5 and he shook off the beast,
How Stubborn - into the fire
How Sterile - and felt no harm.
The Growth - Their
Examination - 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen
Expectation - or fallen down dead suddenly:
Exasperation - but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him,
Exoneration - they changed their minds,
Exaggeration - and said that he was a god.
The Group -
The Rich -
The Residence - 7 In the same quarters were possessions (an estate)
The Presidence - of the chief man of the island, (the chief official of the island) whose name was Publius;
The Providence - who received us, and lodged us three days courteously
Acts 17:37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls. (276 people)
The Restricted -
The Person - 8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick -
The Problem - of a fever and of a bloody flux:
The Prayer - to whom Paul entered in, and prayed,
The Power - and laid his hands on him,
The Praise - and healed him.
The Restored -
The Work - 9 So when this was done,
The Word - others also, The Want - which had diseases in the island,
The Way - came, and were healed:
The Willing -
The Rewarded -
Their Gratitude - 10 Who also honoured us with many honours;
Their Grief - and when we departed,
Their Grace - they laded us with such things as were necessary.
The Rested -
The Vessel - 11 after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
The Visit - 12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
The Venture - 13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: (re’ ji ?m) and after one day the south wind blew,
and we came the next day to Puteoli: (Pu-te-oli)
The Restrained -
The Brethren - 14 Where we found brethren,
The Bond - and were desired to tarry with them seven days:
The Bind - and so we went toward Rome.
The Refreshed -
The Word - 15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us,
The Way - they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns:
The Welcome - whom when Paul saw,
The Worship - he thanked God, and took courage
The Respected -
The Destination - 16 And when we came to Rome,
The Detention - the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard:
The Dispensation - but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
