Acts 28 v 1 - 16 ROME

The Ground - 1 & when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. (Malta)

It was Solid Ground, Strange Ground, Sacred Ground, Sympathetic Ground, Supportive Ground.

The Grace -

The Place - Malta,

The People - 2 and the barbarous people

The Provision -

The Favour - shewed us no little kindness:

The Fire - for they kindled a fire,

The Fervour - and received us every one,

The Factor - because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

The Graft -

The Work - 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks

The Want - and laid them on the fire,

The Wicked - there came a viper out of the heat,

The Willful - and fastened on his hand.

The Grudge -

The Sight - 4 and when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand,

The Saying - they said among themselves,

The Supposition - No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance (the goddess Justice) suffereth not to live.

The Grit - 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

How Serious - the threat - a venomous beast hanging on his hand,

How Sinister - 5 and he shook off the beast,

How Stubborn - into the fire

How Sterile - and felt no harm.

The Growth - Their

Examination - 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen

Expectation - or fallen down dead suddenly:

Exasperation - but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him,

Exoneration - they changed their minds,

Exaggeration - and said that he was a god.

The Residence - 7 In the same quarters were possessions (an estate)

The Presidence - of the chief man of the island, (the chief official of the island) whose name was Publius;

The Providence - who received us, and lodged us three days courteously

The Person - 8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick -

The Problem - of a fever and of a bloody flux:

The Prayer - to whom Paul entered in, and prayed,

The Power - and laid his hands on him,

The Praise - and healed him.

The Work - 9 So when this was done,

The Word - others also, The Want - which had diseases in the island,

The Way - came, and were healed:

The Rewarded -

Their Gratitude - 10 Who also honoured us with many honours;

Their Grief - and when we departed,

Their Grace - they laded us with such things as were necessary.

The Rested -

The Vessel - 11 after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

The Visit - 12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

The Venture - 13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: (re’ ji ?m) and after one day the south wind blew,

and we came the next day to Puteoli: (Pu-te-oli)

The Restrained -

The Brethren - 14 Where we found brethren,

The Bond - and were desired to tarry with them seven days:

The Bind - and so we went toward Rome.

The Refreshed -

The Word - 15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us,

The Way - they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns:

The Welcome - whom when Paul saw,

The Worship - he thanked God, and took courage

The Respected -

The Destination - 16 And when we came to Rome,

The Detention - the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard:

The Dispensation - but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
