Summary: We need to go the cross that is lifted up when things in our life looks eerie, scary, intimidating and menacing.

Rock Higher than me….

Psalm 61:2”From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

David pens the above psalm from a place of desperation, anxiety, pain and agony, he tells God ‘take me to the rock that is higher than I.’ During times of crisis, we need to step up on a platform higher than all the ground realities and get assurance of safety. Isn’t it? Rock higher than me…..

Rock is our Lord Jesus Christ! We need to go the cross that is lifted up when things in our life looks eerie, scary, intimidating and menacing. Please understand you are never left alone to fight the battles in your life, partner with God to whip the enemies that attack you. Are you listening? I can hear someone tell me, ‘sister, my own family are torturing me, my friends mock me, my finances are plummeting, my health is sinking, my children are turning wild, my answer to all of this is ‘let us look at the rock that is higher than all these problems. Don’t panic! God has got your back, all He needs you to be is faithful. If you are in the wrong side then He cannot help you, obey Him and be still.

When I was in my early twenties, my family was going through severe financial crisis, heavy responsibilities and during that time I was working for the Chairman of an organization, the job was very challenging so I found a strategy to help me, every day in the morning(not missing a single day) I would go to a church which was next to the building that I worked (Apex Plaza) and would go the huge cross that was in that church, kneel down and weep at the feet of the Lord and pour out my weaknesses. I drew energy, strength and wisdom from the cross everyday, why not try this in your life? Take your fear, worries and tears to the cross, He will never forsake you!

Though the psalm starts with tears and pain but David ends it up very positively, says: 12 Through God we shall do valiantly

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
