Revelation, Part 37

Revelation 19:9-16

Introduction

Last week we set the stage for the wedding supper, and for the conflict to happen between the armies of the Lord and the armies of Satan.

Tonight and next Sunday we will look at our roles in this battle, and where allegiances are to be today.

Pray

Point 1 - The Marriage Supper of the Lamb (9-10)

This needs to be the cry of the believer! Those who are found worthy enough to be at the marriage supper of the lamb ought to constantly look forward to it.

We are called as believers to be obedient, to keep watch and to fully understand that everything we are is to be lived with the anxious hope of living eternally with Christ as part of the bride.

When we are part of the bride, we are blessed!

Weddings are very important in the Kingdom of God.

Think of the parable of the 10 virgins. Those who were prepared got to enter in and be with the groom, but those who were unprepared were rejected.

As believers, we need to be prepared. When we are not, we are literally playing with fire.

Chapter 19 is a time on this Earth like no other time before it. Following the wedding supper of the Lamb, all of Heaven is united with a common goal of destroying the enemies of God.

Those who are rejected Christ and His salvation are considered an enemy of God, and no longer deserving of this land.

Jesus called us (John 15) friends of God (because we have believed in Him) – so to not believe must mean that you are an enemy of God.

I believe it is at this time, that the Nation of Israel recognizes and understand that Jesus Christ is the Messiah – and through Him they can only survive this time.

Israel to date has rejected Jesus because they were blinded supernaturally by God so that the Gentiles (us) could be allowed to hear the message.

Matthew 15:23-28, “Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table." Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.”

From this moment on, we were allowed to hear the Gospel and God used this woman to speak to His Son and to the disciples who wanted to send her away.

Being part of the bride has a lot of responsibility – IF we are willing to step up and take part in the preparation of the wedding supper.

Point 2 – The King of Heaven (11-16)

John sees a white horse and a rider on it a white horse.

Heaven opens up and reveals the descending Messiah on His land, and on His nation. As John is seeing this, I believe that Israel is seeing this as well and understanding that THIS is the Messiah they have been promised.

Matthew 23:39 says, “For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ’Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

The rider is faithful – which means he can be trusted – his word is truth which is the Word of God spoken from His lips.

Look at the appearance of our Lord. His eyes burned like fire – signaling judgment and holiness. The purity of our lives will be tested by God’s Holy Fire – and this is represented in Jesus’ eyes. (1 Corinthians 3:13, “his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work.”)

On His head are many crowns. Jesus comes as supreme ruler to this Earth; and this time He does not come as a lamb led to the slaughter but as the King of Kings.

Jesus has a name on him that is unknown. This is very intriguing to me. As a believer, we have been in Heaven and even attended the marriage supper – and yet WE cannot fully understand who Jesus is. This name on Him is unknown to us!

What is this name? John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The name is the Name of God!
