Summary: Through the Bible, God instructs us on how to retain our integrity in times of severe crises.

In times of trials and afflictions, when our physical and emotional beings are greatly affected, integrity must not be taken from us, but be guarded, be displayed and most of all be preserved for the glory of God.

During darkest nights, integrity should not be exchanged in favor of some short-term and ungodly relief, but be retained through fear of God. In Job 2:3, it is written, And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? And still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy without cause.

Studying Job chapter 2 will reveal to us God’s awareness on situations we are in and how we cleave to our integrity during critical moments. Without doubt, God will not forsake any man who honors Him in truth. In James 5:11, it is written, Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. What an encouraging verse from the Bible in times of trials and temptation.

As we explore the spiritual riches of the Book of Job, God will instruct us on how to retain our integrity in times of severe crises.

(I)Through Acceptance Of Truth

Job 1:20-22

-Face the truth with courage

-Let the Lord do His Will

Most people when caught by sudden calamity, can’t face and accept the reality of the tragedy, but exhibit negative reactions. We need the grace of God in facing difficult situations. Realizing that God is in control and letting Him do His will strengthens us in a tremendous way.

In Job 1:21, upon hearing what happened to his household, he said, “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”

(See also Job 13:15) Reliance to God protects us from indifference and cowardice.

(II)By Guarding One’s Self From Foolishness

Job 1:22

-Guard yourself from foolish talking

-Watch your emotion in times of trial

and temptation

Watchfulness and soberness are very beneficial in the lives of all believers. Guarding ourselves from foolish talking guides us to a safe place and being watchful of our emotion keeps us from deception.

(III)Through Fear Of God

Job 2:1-3

-The beginning of wisdom

Psalm 111:10

Fear of God contributes a great role in retaining one’s integrity during trying moments. Wisdom is an amazing and powerful fruit of giving due reverence to God Almighty. Spiritual wisdom and endurance are the things we really need in going through the storms of life so we may not become victims of foolishness. Foolishness robs one’s integrity, but fear of God sustains man’s uprightness.
