RESISTING TEMPTATION

MATT.4:1-11

Right after John the Baptist Baptised Jesus

In the River of Jordan, He spent 40 days in the

Wilderness near Jericho where he was tempted

By Satan – much like We are tempted Today!!

MARK 1:12 & 13 SAYS:

And immediately the spirit driveth Him into

The wilderness.

And He was there in the wilderness Forty Days,

Tempted of satan, and was with the wild beasts

And the angels Ministered unto him!

WHY WAS JESUS TEMPTED BY SATAN???

Things had to be fulfilled but I think The Biggest

Reason was to let satan know just how powerless

He is against OUR GOD!!! Now Listen to me

Jesus was very weak from hunger, he fasted for

Forty days BUT he was not so weak that he gave in

To the enemy!!!!!

There were 3 major things that satan tempted Jesus with

FIRST Jesus was tempted to use his power to turn

Stones into bread and Our Savior refused saying: Matt 4;4

It is Written, Man shall not live by bread alone!!!!!

Heb 2:18 says:

For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted,

He is able to succor OR (Aid) them that are tempted.

Satan already knows HE CAN’T WIN!!!!!

But he ain’t gonna stop trying- He knows of the

Concern that Jesus had and the Respect, Attention,

And compassion he has for the multitudes he came

To save!!!!

So second Ole devil trys another approach

If you want to convince everyone that you are

The messiah – you should do something like

Make a public display of your power as

THE SON OF GOD!!!!

You should throw yourself from the highest

point of the Temple in Jerusalem and when you get

up un-harmed then they will all know you as the

MIGHTY ONE!!!

And satan quotes scriptures to Jesus further

Tempting Him Again– He says

For It Is Written – He shall give his Angels charge

Concerning thee and in their hands they shall bear

Thee up, Lest at any time thou Dash thy Foot

Against a stone!!!!!

Jesus cast off the temptation and refused the devil

And his selfish purposes Jesus already knew how to

Shut him up—He said It is written thou shalt not

Tempt the Lord thy God!!!

ZECH 3:1 SAYS:

And He showed me Joshua the High Priest standing

Before the Angel of the Lord and Satan standing

At his right hand to resist HIM!!!!

Then satan prepared for his third and Master Stroke

He suggested a wicked scheme for Jesus to Dominate

The World!!

He knew that God had promised Jesus an everlasting

Kingdom of Saints – and He knew that they would

All Reign under Him and Be united for Eternity and

Serve the LORD!!!

NOW AIN’T THAT SOMETHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT!!!

But he also knew that the road Jesus had to travel

Was holding much pain, Much suffering, and DEATH!!!

So the devil said to Jesus, I know that you are

destined to become ruler of the world But I also know

that the way you must travel will involve great

self denial and many sorrows! And the shedding

of YOUR LIFES BLOOD

he said come with me to the highest mountain

and let me show you all the Wealth and all the

Glory of the World…and you can be the Master

Of it all if only you will Bow Down and Worship Me!!!

Here satan is incenuating that he has control of all the

Worldly Kingdoms and has proposed to let Jesus be

In the place of DOMINANCE??????

EXCUSE ME!!!!!

The SON OF GOD has an entirely different

Idea as to how the Kingdom is gonna be set up!!!

ITS GONNA BE A SPIRITUAL KINGDOM!!!!

WHERE THE PRINCIPALS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

WILL PREVAIL –

AND JESUS CHRIST ALREADY

HAS DOMINANCE OVER IT!!

ARE YOU WITH ME?

Jesus said in John 12:31

Now is the Judgement of this World Now shall

The prince of this world BE CAST OUT

THIS MEANS YOU KNOW WHO!!!!!

The devil is gonna tempt us Its his Job!!!!!

He’s gonna use his power and he has some power

BUT HE ALREADY KNOWS

HE CAN’T WIN!!!!!HE CAN-NOT WIN!!!!!

FOLKS THE DEVIL ONLY HAS WHAT POWER

THAT WE ALLOW HIM TO HAVE!!

WITH THE HELP OF OUR GOD WE CAN

OVERPOWER HIM AT ANY TIME!!!

HEB 2:14 SAYS:

That through Death He might destroy him that

Had the power of Death and that

Is the devil!!!

The devil might destroy us and send us to a deep

Dark burning hell – where there is no return – and he

Does all this through temptation – and DEATH!!!!!

1ST JOHN 3:8 SAYS:

He THAT committeth sin is of the devil for

The devil sinneth from the beginning for this

Purpose THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED

That HE MIGHT DESTROY the works of the devil!!!
