RESISTING TEMPTATION
MATT.4:1-11
Right after John the Baptist Baptised Jesus
In the River of Jordan, He spent 40 days in the
Wilderness near Jericho where he was tempted
By Satan – much like We are tempted Today!!
MARK 1:12 & 13 SAYS:
And immediately the spirit driveth Him into
The wilderness.
And He was there in the wilderness Forty Days,
Tempted of satan, and was with the wild beasts
And the angels Ministered unto him!
WHY WAS JESUS TEMPTED BY SATAN???
Things had to be fulfilled but I think The Biggest
Reason was to let satan know just how powerless
He is against OUR GOD!!! Now Listen to me
Jesus was very weak from hunger, he fasted for
Forty days BUT he was not so weak that he gave in
To the enemy!!!!!
There were 3 major things that satan tempted Jesus with
FIRST Jesus was tempted to use his power to turn
Stones into bread and Our Savior refused saying: Matt 4;4
It is Written, Man shall not live by bread alone!!!!!
Heb 2:18 says:
For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted,
He is able to succor OR (Aid) them that are tempted.
Satan already knows HE CAN’T WIN!!!!!
But he ain’t gonna stop trying- He knows of the
Concern that Jesus had and the Respect, Attention,
And compassion he has for the multitudes he came
To save!!!!
So second Ole devil trys another approach
If you want to convince everyone that you are
The messiah – you should do something like
Make a public display of your power as
THE SON OF GOD!!!!
You should throw yourself from the highest
point of the Temple in Jerusalem and when you get
up un-harmed then they will all know you as the
MIGHTY ONE!!!
And satan quotes scriptures to Jesus further
Tempting Him Again– He says
For It Is Written – He shall give his Angels charge
Concerning thee and in their hands they shall bear
Thee up, Lest at any time thou Dash thy Foot
Against a stone!!!!!
Jesus cast off the temptation and refused the devil
And his selfish purposes Jesus already knew how to
Shut him up—He said It is written thou shalt not
Tempt the Lord thy God!!!
ZECH 3:1 SAYS:
And He showed me Joshua the High Priest standing
Before the Angel of the Lord and Satan standing
At his right hand to resist HIM!!!!
Then satan prepared for his third and Master Stroke
He suggested a wicked scheme for Jesus to Dominate
The World!!
He knew that God had promised Jesus an everlasting
Kingdom of Saints – and He knew that they would
All Reign under Him and Be united for Eternity and
Serve the LORD!!!
NOW AIN’T THAT SOMETHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT!!!
But he also knew that the road Jesus had to travel
Was holding much pain, Much suffering, and DEATH!!!
So the devil said to Jesus, I know that you are
destined to become ruler of the world But I also know
that the way you must travel will involve great
self denial and many sorrows! And the shedding
of YOUR LIFES BLOOD
he said come with me to the highest mountain
and let me show you all the Wealth and all the
Glory of the World…and you can be the Master
Of it all if only you will Bow Down and Worship Me!!!
Here satan is incenuating that he has control of all the
Worldly Kingdoms and has proposed to let Jesus be
In the place of DOMINANCE??????
EXCUSE ME!!!!!
The SON OF GOD has an entirely different
Idea as to how the Kingdom is gonna be set up!!!
ITS GONNA BE A SPIRITUAL KINGDOM!!!!
WHERE THE PRINCIPALS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
WILL PREVAIL –
AND JESUS CHRIST ALREADY
HAS DOMINANCE OVER IT!!
ARE YOU WITH ME?
Jesus said in John 12:31
Now is the Judgement of this World Now shall
The prince of this world BE CAST OUT
THIS MEANS YOU KNOW WHO!!!!!
The devil is gonna tempt us Its his Job!!!!!
He’s gonna use his power and he has some power
BUT HE ALREADY KNOWS
HE CAN’T WIN!!!!!HE CAN-NOT WIN!!!!!
FOLKS THE DEVIL ONLY HAS WHAT POWER
THAT WE ALLOW HIM TO HAVE!!
WITH THE HELP OF OUR GOD WE CAN
OVERPOWER HIM AT ANY TIME!!!
HEB 2:14 SAYS:
That through Death He might destroy him that
Had the power of Death and that
Is the devil!!!
The devil might destroy us and send us to a deep
Dark burning hell – where there is no return – and he
Does all this through temptation – and DEATH!!!!!
1ST JOHN 3:8 SAYS:
He THAT committeth sin is of the devil for
The devil sinneth from the beginning for this
Purpose THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED
That HE MIGHT DESTROY the works of the devil!!!
The SON OF GOD was sent to destroy the works
Of the devil!!!!!
LISTEN
Who so ever is BORN OF GOD doth not commit Sin!!!
For his seed remaineth in Him: and He cannot sin
BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD…
REV 12:11 SAYS:
And they overcame Him by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB!!!
And by the word of their testimony
WE ARE COVERED BY THE BLOOD!!!!!!
ARE YOU WITH ME?????????
IF YOU’RE WITH ME -
Hold up your hands and SAY WE PRAISE
YOU JESUS!!!!!!
WE ARE COVERED BY THE BLOOD
THE BLOOD THAT WAS SHED ON CALVARY
THE PLACE OF A SKULL – GOLGOTHA
But we must keep our eyes open for the enemy!!!
He’s gonna be there…..He will be on your back
We’re gonna be attacked – But by the
Name of JESUS CHRIST WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS PRAISE GOD!!!!
EZEK 3:14 SAYS
So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away
And I went in Bitterness, In the heat of my spirit
But the hand of The Lord was strong upon Me!!!!!
We are being protected Just Like Jesus
Was for those 40 days and during the temptation!!!
If God wasn’t watching over us We couldn’t make
It through one day or one hour or probably not even
FOR A MINUTE!! There are many prayers that have
Been prayed for us and many are on the shelf waiting
Even when we were in sin those prayers on the
Shelf were being used up!!!!!
BUT ONLY WHEN WE NEEDED THEM
LIKE MORNING NOON AND NIGHT!!!!!
I heard a Minister tell of a vision about stocked
Up prayers they were bottled up in jeannie bottles
They came out as vapors, when needed
These are our weapons to help us make it through
Till we give it to the Lord or Maybe they are there for
Us when we get behind in our prayer life!!!!!
EPH 6:11 & 12 TELLS US:
Put on the whole Armor of God that ye
May be able to stand against the wiles of the devil
For we wrestle not against Flesh and Blood but
Against principalities, against Powers
Against the rulers of the Darkness of this World
Against spiritual wickedness in High Places!!!!!
THE ARMOR OF GOD CONSISTS OF 6 PIECES
TRUTH
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
PREPERATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE
THE SHIELD OF FAITH
THE HELMET OF SALVATION
THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
Which is the WORD OF GOD!!!!
If we keep our Armor fitting properly and make
Sure its not to tight or to loose –
STAY PRAYED UP!
WE WILL PREVAIL
We will be VICTORIOUS Like Little David
Against Goliath!!
PSA 91:11 SAYS:
For he shall give his angels charge over thee
To keep thee in all thy ways
We have so much protection!!!!!
We have so much Power!!!!
We have so much to Gain
And we have so little to loose
And most of us don’t have any Idea
Just how close this all is to the tips of our fingers!!!
Its within reach – ITS JUST RIGHT THERE!!!
RIGHT THERE FOR THE ASKING!!!!!
THE BIBLE SAYS--------------
ASK WITH FAITH BELEIVING AND WHAT????
IT WILL BE GIVEN TO US!!!!!!
The devil offers us worldly things and fleshly things
God offers us eternal life and a Glorified Body
MATT 16:26 SAYS:
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain
The whole world, and Loose his own Soul?
Or what shall a Man give, In exchange for His Soul?
Are We stepping on You Know Who Yet???
I want to jump on the devil!!!!!!

1ST JOHN 2:15 SAYS:
Love not the World, Neither the things
that are In the world.
If any Man love the world
THE LOVE OF THE FATHER IS NOT IN HIM!!
When satan tempts us its according to our own
Individual weaknesses…and Temptations usually
Follow patterns.
They appeal to three simple areas of life
The Lust of the Flesh (physical desires)
The Lust of the Eyes (personal Desires)
The Pride of Life (Self Interests)
When satan caused the fall of the Race He appealed
To each of these areas of weakness as well – And He first Appealed to Eve’s weakness. Some will say It was Eve’s fault BUT If I remember correctly it takes TWO to TANGO. Eve then tempted Adam but He could’ve said NO!!!!! So you See The devil also
Appealed to these same areas when he tempted
Jesus. But Jesus Defied the devils temptations,
By relying on the Authority of the Scriptures!!!!!
This is what we gotta do as saints of God to
Defeat temptation!!!!!!!!!!!!
JAMES 4:7 SAYS:
Submit yourselves therefore to God
Resist the devil,
AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU!!!!!
If Jesus would have accepted the devils offer
The whole plan of the messianic Kingdom would
NEVER HAVE BEEN!!!!!!!
Our redemption would have been done away with
So what did JESUS TELL THE devil???
Get thee hence satan: for it is written thou shalt
Worship the lord thy God!!!!
And Him only shalt thou serve!!!!!!
This was a near Death Blow to satan
And his hopes
And what did he do???????????
He left for a season

AND THERE APPEARED AN angel unto him
From heaven strengthening him

DON’T LET THE DEVIL DEVOUR YOU!!!
OUR TIME HERE ON THIS EARTH IS SHORT
ITS TICKING AWAY AS WE SPEAK
DON’T LET IT RUN OUT ON YOU
DON’T LET SATAN WIN
OUR SHELFED PRAYERS ARE THERE
BUT THEY WONT LAST FOREVER
I KNOW MY MOM AND DAD HAD MANY
PRAYERS LAID ON THE SHELF FOR ME
AND MY MOTHER IN LAW GENEVA
WHO IS NOW GONE ON TO BE WITH JESUS
HAD MANY PRAYERS THERE ON THE SHELF
TOO FOR HER KIDS AND ME
OUR PRAYER WARRIORS ARE GONE ON
IT WAS MAMAW GINS TESTIMONY AND PRAYER
THAT HER KIDS WOULD BE SAVED BEFORE
IT WAS TOO LATE
OUR SHELF PRAYERS CAN’T GET US TO HEAVEN
MY PRAYERS WON’T PRAY YOU THERE
THOSE PRAYERS DO HELP THOUGH
OUR MOM AND DADS CAN’T PRAY US THER
NO-BODY CAN
WE HAVE TO PRAY OURSELVES THERE!!!!!
