Summary: The year 2020 has been the year of the unexpected which has left many in distress and discouragement. As we begin the journey this year , we need a renewed strength from the Lord.
TOPIC: RENEWED STRENGTH FOR THE NEW YEAR
TEXT:ISAIAH 40:31.
" But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint."
The year 2020 has been a year of the unexpected, filled with uncertainties and tensions. We started the year with high expectations with the hope that the achievements in the year will surpass that of the previous year. Before we could settle down for business the news of the emergence of a novel virus hit the airwaves. The outcomes of the pandemic have adversely affected us. Many lives were lost all over the globe. A lot of jobs and businesses were also affected resulting in untold hardship in the lives of the people.
However, we give God glory because it could have been worse especially in Africa. We saw the faithfulness of God, His presence and power in our midst, was not in doubt. This reaffirms the scripture that says
" It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."(Lamentations 3:22,23)
As we begin a new year, we are not sure what the year has in stock but like Alison Krauss observes in her song,
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand
In our text, our attention is drawn on how we can live a life of daily victory in the year ahead.
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint."
In times like these, we require the strength of the Lord to survive. No man can withstand the uncertainty of the moments who relies on his strength. Hear what the Bible says in
Isaiah 40:30 "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall" who do not seek for the strength of the Lord.
We need to patiently wait on the Lord. We should seek to receive the green light from Him before launching out for any venture this year. We need to be equipped with divine strength and ability before we can undertake the journey ahead of us. Take for instance, despite the urgency of the Great Commission, the Lord Jesus Christ instructed the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they receive strength(power) before they could launch out to win souls. Let's learn to wait on the Lord. Hasty slowly!.
Most of our weaknesses and failures stem from our impatience. We must wait on the Lord not only for directions but the strength to implement the decisions.
Find time to be alone with God because His renewing grace is better experienced in isolation and stillness. Have a robust quiet time every day.
Memorize the promises of God and always declare them upon your life and activities.
🙏 Father renew our strength this season as you wait upon the You in Jesus name.
🙏Father in the name of Jesus, make us strong and healthy, please Lord let no disease, sickness, virus, infection come near our body.
🙏May the Lord be gracious unto you and order your steps to the fulfilment of your destiny in the of Jesus
🙏May you overcome every challenge that comes across your way; divine intervention for you and yours in the name of Jesus
🙏Forward ever, may you go from strength to strength, from victory to victory, from glory to glory, in the mighty name of Jesus!.
🙏Thank you, Father, for the answers to prayers in Jesus mighty name we pray...
