This sermon explores the concept of prioritizing tasks and commitments in our lives, drawing inspiration from Jesus's focus on completing his divine mission, and encourages us to apply these principles to our own lives.
We’re in week three of a 5-week series called Redeeming Your Time. A quick recap: In Ephesians 5:15-17, God commands us to “redeem the time.” Why? So that we can do “the will of the Lord.” And how do we redeem the time? Well we have been looking at the life of Jesus for 7 principles that can help us manage our time better. Because as we have established, even though life in the 1st century was drastically different than today, Jesus did have to deal with the human limitation of time. He had people pulling him in a million directions. He had to figure out what was most important. So far, we have explored three timeless time management principles from the life of Christ: Principle #1: Start with the Word Principle #2: Let Your Yes Be Yes Principle #3: Dissent From the Kingdom of Noise

I want to start today by looking at Mark 1:29-38: ”As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So, to recap: After driving out some evil spirits at the synagogue, Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and a bunch of her neighbors. Understandably, the town’s residents wanted more of Jesus the next day. But Jesus said no. Why? Because he had already committed his time to a bigger yes.
Listen again to his response to the people’s request for more of his time: “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also ... View this full sermon with PRO Premium
