Explore the concept of salvation through Jesus, emphasizing that recognizing Him as our Savior opens us to the blessings of being children of God.
Good morning, wonderful congregation! Today, we're going to dive deep into the heart of Genesis, specifically Genesis 7:1, where we find:
“Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.’”
This passage is a powerful reminder about God's call to salvation through Jesus. We are going to explore how Jesus is our ultimate source of salvation and the immense blessing we discover when we find salvation in Him.
As C.S. Lewis once said, "The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God." We are called to recognize the Son of God as our Savior, and in doing so, we open ourselves to the blessings that come with being children of God.
Let us bow our heads for an opening prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, open our hearts and minds today as we delve into Your word. Help us to comprehend the magnitude of Your love for us, shown through the gift of Your Son Jesus. May we experience anew the joy and peace that comes from finding salvation in Him. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let's now delve into the beautiful message that God has for us today through His Word.
The call to salvation through Jesus is a profound and life-changing invitation that God extends to each one of us. It is an invitation to step out of the darkness of sin and into the glorious light of His love and grace. This call is not a one-time event but a continuous beckoning from our Heavenly Father, urging us to draw closer to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
God's call to Noah, a righteous man in his generation: God found Noah to be righteous, not because of his own merit but because of his faith in God. Similarly, God calls us to salvation, not based on our righteousness but on our faith in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Our salvation is a gift from God, freely given to us through Jesus Christ.
A call to a relationship with God: It is not merely a ticket to heaven or an escape from eternal damnation. Rather, it is an invitation to know God intimately, to experience His love, mercy, and grace in a personal way. This relationship with God is made possible through Jesus Christ, who bridged the gap between sinful humanity and a holy God. As John 14:6 declares, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
A call to transformation: When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are not only forgiven of our sins but also transformed into new creations. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This transformation is not a result of our own efforts but the work of the Holy Spirit in us, molding us to be more like Christ.
A call to a life of purpose: We are not saved to live aimlessly but to fulfill God's purposes for our lives. As Ephesians 2:10 tells us, "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Our lives have meaning and purpose because we are part of God's grand plan of redemption.
A call to eternal life:: Jesus did not just come to give us a better life here on earth but to give us eternal life with Him. As John 3:16 proclaims, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This eternal life is not just a future reality but a present possession for those who have put their faith in Jesus.
