RECOGNISING AND EMBRACING DESTINY HELPERS
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Luke 10:33-35
"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee."
Supporting Texts: 1 Samuel 9:15-17, Genesis 41:9-14, Ruth 2:8-10, 2 Kings 5:1-4, Acts 9:10-17
INTRODUCTION
God never created anyone to journey through life alone. He has ordained destiny helpers—people positioned to guide, support, and uplift us in the fulfilment of our divine purpose. Just as no child is born and raised in isolation, no one can achieve destiny without the right relationships.
Throughout the Bible, we see how destiny helpers played a crucial role in transforming lives. Joseph needed Pharaoh’s butler, David needed Samuel, Ruth needed Boaz, and Paul needed Ananias. Recognising and embracing these God-sent helpers is vital for experiencing divine acceleration.
However, many fail to discern their destiny helpers, while others reject them out of pride, ignorance, or fear. This sermon will help us understand how to recognise, embrace, and walk in alignment with our God-ordained destiny helpers.
1. UNDERSTANDING WHO DESTINY HELPERS ARE
Destiny helpers are people divinely positioned to aid, uplift, and guide us toward fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.
a) They Are God-Sent – Destiny helpers do not appear by accident; they are part of God’s plan (Jeremiah 29:11).
b) They Come in Different Forms – Some destiny helpers offer advice, others provide resources, and some make key introductions (Exodus 18:13-24).
c) They Often Appear in Unexpected Ways – The Good Samaritan was not the injured man’s relative, but he became his divine helper (Luke 10:33-35).
d) They Are Assigned for Specific Seasons – Some helpers are meant for a lifetime, while others are for specific moments (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
e) Biblical Example: Ananias and Saul – Ananias was sent by God to restore Paul’s sight and commission him into ministry (Acts 9:10-17).
2. HOW TO RECOGNISE YOUR DESTINY HELPERS
Many miss their destiny helpers because they expect them to come in a particular way. Recognising them requires spiritual sensitivity.
a) Divine Leading Through Prayer – God reveals destiny helpers to those who seek Him (Jeremiah 33:3).
b) They Carry the Key to Your Next Level – Destiny helpers often provide opportunities that propel you forward (Genesis 41:9-14).
c) They Align with God’s Purpose for Your Life – True destiny helpers encourage you to stay in God's will, not deviate from it (1 Samuel 9:15-17).
d) They Challenge and Correct You in Love – Destiny helpers are not just encouragers; they also correct and refine you (Proverbs 27:6).
e) Biblical Example: Mordecai and Esther – Mordecai recognised Esther’s destiny and guided her to fulfil it (Esther 4:13-16).
3. EMBRACING AND HONOURING YOUR DESTINY HELPERS
Recognising destiny helpers is not enough; we must embrace and honour them.
a) Honour Unlocks the Fullness of Their Help – Dishonour can cause a helper to withdraw (Matthew 13:57-58).
b) Serve Before You Are Served – Many times, embracing a destiny helper requires humility and service (Ruth 2:8-10).
c) Be Teachable and Willing to Learn – Some helpers come as mentors, and humility is required to receive from them (Proverbs 1:5).
d) Avoid Entitlement and Pride – Destiny helpers are not obligated to help; gratitude and humility sustain their assistance (Luke 17:11-19).
e) Biblical Example: Elisha and Elijah – Elisha honoured and served Elijah before receiving a double portion of his anointing (2 Kings 2:9-15).
4. OBSTACLES TO RECEIVING DESTINY HELPERS
Many people miss their divine connections due to personal and spiritual hindrances.
a) Pride and Self-Sufficiency – Thinking you can succeed without others leads to missed opportunities (Proverbs 16:18).
b) Prejudice and Wrong Expectations – Sometimes, destiny helpers do not fit our preconceived ideas (John 1:46).
c) Ingratitude and Disrespect – Failing to appreciate small help can close the door to greater assistance (1 Samuel 25:10-11).
d) Fear and Lack of Discernment – Some hesitate to trust their destiny helpers due to past disappointments (2 Timothy 1:7).
e) Biblical Example: Nabal and David – Nabal’s ingratitude and arrogance cost him his life and family’s protection (1 Samuel 25:2-38).
5. PRAYING FOR DESTINY HELPERS TO LOCATE YOU
Even when we recognise the importance of destiny helpers, we must pray for divine orchestration.
a) God is the Ultimate Connector – Only He can bring the right people into our lives (Psalm 37:23).
b) Pray for Helpers Who Fear God – The right people will push you toward righteousness (2 Corinthians 6:14).
