Summary: HOW TO CORRECT A REBELLIOUS, FELLOW BELIEVER.

REBELLION

OBSERVATION:

CHRIST IS NOT SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED BY NAME IN THE PROVERBS. HOWEVER, PROVERBS 8:22-31 IS CLEAR THAT THE WRITER IS DESCRIBING HIM. MOST OF THE PROVERBS ARE SHORT AND EXPRESS TRUTHS ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR. KING SOLOMON WROTE MOST OF THE MATERIAL.

INTERPRETATION:

PROVERBS 12: 21 (NKJV) NO GRAVE TROUBLE WILL OVERTAKE THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE WICKED SHALL BE FILLED WITH EVIL. NEW LIVING BIBLE (PARAPHRASE) NO REAL (IMPLIED) HARM BEFALLS THE GOOD, BUT THERE IS CONSTANT TROUBLE FOR THE WICKED.

POINTS TO PONDER:

BELIEVERS CAN SOMETIMES BECOME REBELLIOUS BECAUSE OF ADVERSITY. ADVERSITIES SUCH AS LOSS OF A CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER ARE COMMON. THEY SOMETIMES BECOME CYNICAL AND REBELLIOUS TOWARD GOD. THIS MINDSET WAS NEVER GOD’S PLAN FOR THEIR LIVES.

SPEAK TRUTH TO A REBELLIOUS FELLOW BELIEVER WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION. THIS APPROACH WILL HOPEFULLY CORRECT THE ERROR AND BRING PLEASURE TO GOD AND JOY WITHIN YOU.

BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR VERBIAGE WHEN CORRECTING. HELP THEM UNDERSTAND SUFFERING CAN HAPPEN TO ANY FELLOW BELIEVER BUT GOD’S BLESSINGS WILL COME IN DISGUISE.

APPLICATION:

DIVINE INTERVENTION CAN HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE. THE HARDSHIPS YOU EXPERIENCE CAN WORK FOR GOOD IN YOUR CHRISTIAN WALK AND BECOME A TESTIMONY TO OTHER BELIEVERS!
