Summary: This is a message that points out the most basic salvation doctrine and that is the security of the believer.

Reasons for Real Security

Romans 8:33-39

I. We Can Never Be Condemned (v. 33-34)

A. No Condemnation Due to God’s Sovereignty (v. 33)

1. Your salvation is not due to luck

2. Your salvation is eternal past and future

B. No Condemnation Due to the Price Paid (v. 32, 34b)

1. The price paid provided total forgiveness

2. The price paid finished God’s work

C. No Condemnation Due to the Plea Entered (v. 34c)

1. Christ’s ongoing ministry

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” – Heb. 7:25

2. Christ’s ongoing grace

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Heb. 4:16

II. We Can Never Be Conquered (v. 35-37)

A. There is an question concerning being conquered (v. 35a)

1. Due to our constant battle with the flesh

2. Due to our constant battle with the world

3. Due to our consistent foe, Satan

B. There is the promise of a trying journey (v. 35b-36)

C. There is the promise of a triumphant journey (v. 37)

1. Triumphant in abundant living now

2. Triumphant in God’s power for living

3. Triumphant in eternal living

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." – Revelation 21:1-4

III. We Can Never Be Cast Off (v. 38-39)

A. Our Security in Christ is the result of Conviction (v. 38a)

1. A conviction that leads to repentance and faith

2. A conviction of God’s holding power

B. Our security is not dependant on circumstances (v. 38b-39a)

C. Our security is inseparable (v. 39b)
