Ready for Revival
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.
(Prof-ate Too-Oh - To speak under the inspiration),
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
What is Revival?
1. Revival is not a week worth of meetings.
2. Revival is not started in one day.
3. Revival is not controlled by man.
4. Revival is a heart thing.
5. Revival is always brought on by REPENTANCE.
6. Revival is renewed zeal to obey God
When is Revival Needed?
Charles Finney said revival is needed:
„« When there is an absence of Love, Confidence, and unity among Christians. It is in vain to call upon then to love one another while they are sunk in stupidity and coldness.
1) Revival is needed:
a) When there are jealousies, bitterness, and evil speaking among Christians.
2) Revival is needed:
a) When the Church becomes worldly in attire, parties, amusements, reading, and entertainment.
3) Revival is needed:
a) When professing Christians fall into gross and scandalous sin.
4) Revival is needed:
a) When a spirit of controversy prevails among Christians.
5) Revival is needed:
a) When the wicked triumph and mock at the Church.
6) Revival is needed:
a) When sinners are careless and are going to hell unconcerned. Our duty as Christians is to awake them, like that of firemen in case of fire. Their guilt is similar to that of firemen who will sleep on when the city is ablaze.
1) WHAT BRINGS REVIVAL?
a) HUNGER FOR THE HOLY GHOST.
i) Acts 2:1, ¡§And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.¡¨
ii) Acts 1:4-8, ¡§And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, ¡§which,¡¨ He said, ¡§you have heard from Me; 5for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.¡¨ 6Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, ¡§Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?¡¨ 7And He said to them, ¡§It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8But you shall receive power (dunamis ¡V miraculous power) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.¡¨
b) SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD BRINGS REVIVAL
i) When you seek the face of God there comes an incredible hunger for more of God¡¦s presence and power. Your appetite for the sovereign move of God becomes a constant fixation. Those who seek God are tired of ¡§just playing church.¡¨ They want to see the Shekina Glory of God come down in their midst.
ii) Their thirst for God has not and will not be quenched; and their hunger pains have not been satisfied.
iii) When you seek the face of God you are willing to be a fool in the sight of the world in order to be embraced in the arms of the Lord.
c) YOU WILL LACK NO GOOD THING WHEN YOU SEEK GOD
i) Psalms 34:8-10, ¡§Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.¡¨
d) GOD REWARDS THOSE THAT SEEK HIM!
i) Hebrews 11:6, ¡§ But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.¡¨
(1) Ek-zah-tah-oh-
(a) to seek out, search for
(b) to seek out, i.e. investigate, scrutinize
(c) to seek out for one’s self, beg, crave
(d) to demand back, require, or enquire, worship.
e) PRAYER IS THE FOUNDATION OF REVIVAL
i) Matthew 17:14-21, ¡§And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15¡§Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.¡¨ 17Then Jesus answered and said, ¡§O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.¡¨ 18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ¡§Why could we not cast it out?¡¨ 20So Jesus said to them, ¡§Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ¡¥Move from here to there,¡¦ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.¡¨
