Read, Hear, Keep and Do!

In this outline we have three points that if a believer will do he will become a growing, maturing and fruit bearing Christian. He or she will live in victory as they will find their selves not only in the Will of God but doing the Will of God in their lives.

Revelation 1:1-3 (KJV) 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

I. Blessed is he that reads the Word of God.

A. We learn of God’s blessings for our lives when we read His Word.

1. We should make reading the Bible a daily practice.

a. Practice make perfect.

b. We cannot claim the promises of God unless we read them.

It is impossible to righteously govern the world without God and the Bible. George Washington.

c. When we read the Bible we find that the New Testament is God’s perfect Will for our lives.

2. Deuteronomy 17:19 AMP And he shall keep it with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn [reverently] to fear the Lord his God, by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes and doing them,

II: Blessing is also when we hear the Word of God.

Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

A. Hearing the Word of God preached will bring faith into our lives.

B. Mark 11:22 (KJV) And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

1. We cannot be saved or even healed and delivered with hearing the Word.

Romans 10:13-14 (KJV) 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

2. Before Jesus healed the sick or did a miracle as feeding the multitudes He taught the Word to them.

a. There is creative power in the Word of God.

Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

III. Blessing on those who keep (Do) the Word.

B. It is not enough to just read and hear the Word, we must be willing to do what the Word says. James 1:22-25 (KJV) 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

1. Doers will be blessed.

2. We need to continue in the Word.

a. We do not want to be a forgetful hearer.

It is said that when the famous missionary, Dr. David Livingstone, started his trek across Africa he had 73 books in 3 packs, weighing 180 pounds. After the party had gone 300 miles, Livingstone was obliged to throw away some of the books because of the fatigue of those carrying his baggage. As he continued on his journey his library grew less and less, until he had but one book left--his Bible.

Within the covers of one single book, the Bible, are all the answers to all the problems that face us today--if only we would read and believe. Ronald Reagan.
