Radical Remembrance
Contributed by Rev Emmanuel O. Adejugbe on Dec 22, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: Are you exhausted from trying to 'create' yourself? Discover how Radical Remembrance, returning to your Creator's original blueprint stops burnout and restores true vitality. Reclaim your identity before the world redefines you.
The Age of Amnesia
We are living in what I call the "Age of Amnesia." We have 10,000 photos stored in our pockets, yet we have never been more prone to forgetting the most important things. We forget our worth, we forget our purpose, and most dangerously, we forget our Source.
The world is constantly trying to "rebrand" you. It wants to tell you that your value is found in your hustle, your followers, or your bank account. But there is a massive gap between who the world tells you to be and who God engineered you to be. Today, we are closing that gap. We are engaging in an act of Radical Remembrance.
The Command to Remember
In Ecclesiastes 12:1, the Bible gives us a direct order:
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.”
In the original Hebrew, the word for "Remember" is Zakar. It isn't just a mental "thought." It is a decisive action. To Zakar is to bring a past truth into your present reality so that it changes your future behavior.
Why "in the days of your youth"? Because God doesn't want your leftovers. He doesn't want the "retired" version of you only; He wants the vital version of you. He wants your strength, your passion, and your "now."
The Blueprint of You
Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." If you want to know how a building is supposed to stand, you don’t ask the people walking past it on the sidewalk; you look at the Blueprint. Some of you are exhausted because you’ve been asking "passersby" (social media, trends, culture) how to live your life.
Radical Remembrance means:
?You stop trying to "create" yourself. You were already created. Your job is to discover the design.
?You reject the "Self-Help" trap. You don't need "self-help"; you need "Creator-alignment."
? You prioritize the "Now." Vitality is lost when we say, "I’ll get serious with God later." Solomon warns us that the "days of no pleasure" are coming. The time for vitality is today.
True vitality that energy that doesn't burn out only comes when the "Product" (you) is connected to the "Power Source" (the Creator).
I Challenge you: This week, I want you to perform one act of Radical Remembrance. Before you check your notifications in the morning, check your "Bible." Spend five minutes reminding yourself: I am designed by God, I am known by God, and I am sustained by God.
Don't let the world make you forget. Stand up, look at your Creator, and reclaim your "Why."
Let’s Pray
Lord, we repent for the times we have tried to be our own creators. We have tried to build lives without your blueprint, and we wonder why we are exhausted. Today, we choose Radical Remembrance. We choose to anchor our identity in You. Give us the vitality that comes only from being yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
