“R” YOU?

GALATIANS 2:20

INTRODUCTION: Ever noticed how “text-messengers” take shortcuts – “R” instead of are? There’s no reason or excuse for taking a shortcut with this text!

“R” You:

I. REALIZING YOUR POSITION?

A. The Past Position Note the word “crucified”. It’s in the past tense. This is a once for all action that never needs to be repeated. Christ died once for all. When one is born again it never needs to be repeated. If you don’t like the way you were first born be born again! When He died – I died. The wages of sins are paid forever. How can you kill a man who is already dead?

B. The Present Position See the words “the life I live.” That’s in the present tense. Faith in Christ has raised us up from the dead and made us eternally alive. How can this be? Dead and alive at the same time! We are dead to sin and alive unto Jesus. If we share in His death, we share in His life.

Do we really realize our position?

II. RELYING ON HIS POWER?

Paul’s ability is credited to Christ. Note:

A. The Power of His Resurrection Observe the words “Christ lives.” He arose! The power of His life works in the life of the believer bringing about salvation, sanctification, transformation and one day glorification.

B. The Place of His Residence “Christ lives in me.” See John 14:16-18. His spirit leads, teaches, empowers, comforts and corrects. As we yield more to Him, He produces more of Himself through us. This is the only way to be productive in the Christian life.

III. RESTING ON HIS PROVISIONS?

Look at:

A. His Supply See the word “faith.” It is a gift – see Eph. 2:8-9. It is a fruit (Gal. 5:22). It comes from hearing – Rom. 10:17.

B. His Sacrifice Everything here is possible only because of the cross. Note, “Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

CONCLUSION: “R” You?
