"Our Shield and Protector"

Psalms 3

As a boy growing up in a small east Texas town, I well-remember walking to town

for groceries on Saturday’s. It was about a two-mile, round-trip.

As a single-parent, our mom was struggling to raise two small boys.

Times were hard and we could not afford a car. We walked everywhere we went.

In those days it took all three of us to carry $10.00 worth of groceries.

Each one of us would have two sacks in each arm. Our long walk was on the side

of a busy US highway, and there was no sidewalk. Because of the danger, our

mom insisted on walking on the traffic side of the highway, as a shield for us

from the traffic. Having mom between us and that traffic made us feel secure.

In our lesson today, King David was faced with dangers all around him.

His only protection, his shield was from the Lord God who stood by him

Closing... Remember the promise of your Heavenly Father!

(“I will never leave you nor forsake you!”)

You can trust Him! I hope you have!

If you haven't trusted Him as yet, you can trust Him now!
