Summary: You might be a redneck was made famous by Jeff Foxworthy. Well you might be a Christian if you Put the Father out front.

Putting the Father out Front. Ps 16:8

First thing I want us to notice is

I. The Selection. “I have set the LORD always before me…”

The word “always” means just what it says. Daily, continually and

perpetually I set the Lord before me.

Prov 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto

thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge

him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The psalmist is looking thru God Glasses: God’s perspective.

What if we looked at everything the way God does?

Imagine looking at tithing the way God does.,

Pro 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the

firstfruits of all thine increase:

What if tithing was a way to Honor God?

What if thiting was a way to thank God?

1 Cor 16:2 “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you

lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him…”

What if we looked at church the way God does?

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as

the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so

much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

1 Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you,

that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our

fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

You’re reading someone else’s letter.

II. The Security “…Because he is at my right hand.”

“Right hand” is used as a symbol of strength. Of power

With God at your right hand, you will be able weather any storm.

Ps 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Ps 127:3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not

fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

A second grader stood up in front of his class to give his speech, “What

I Want To Be When I Grow Up.” He said, “I’m going to be a lion tamer and

have lots of great big lions. I’ll walk into the cage, and they will roar.” He

paused for a moment, thinking through what he just said, then added,

“But of course I’ll have my Mommy with me.”

III. The Stability. “…I shall not be moved” It means, Unshakable.

Deut 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are

judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

The SOLID ROCK.

A kindergarten teacher gave her class a “show and tell” assignment of

bringing something to represent their religion.

The first child got in front of the class and said, “My name is Benjamin,

and I am Jewish, and this is the Star of David.”

The second child got in front of her class and said, “My name is Mary,

I am Catholic, and this is the Crucifix.”

The third child got up in front of his class and said, “My name is Tommy

and I am Baptist and this is a 6 x 9 casserole dish.”

1 Cor 10: 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant,

how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through

the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the

sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the

same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that

followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Look at all God did for Israel. He’s doing the same for you.

IV. The Satisfaction.

9 “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices my flesh also

shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;

neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou

wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at

thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Ps 119:111 Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage forever: for

they are the rejoicing of my heart.

• You might be a redneck if your dad walks you to school because you’re both in the same grade.

• You might be a redneck if you have flowers planted in a bathroom fixture in your front yard.

• You might be a redneck if you think the last words to the Star Spangled Banner are, "Gentlemen, start your engines.
